Coup is an unassuming game. The first time through felt obvious, if pleasant. The second time through it felt a little richer. Every time it ended, I wanted to play again. I’ve now played between 10-12 games, and each time it goes just a little deeper. If it was any longer, I’d call it a grower. A modern take on Kelly's Heroes where Clint Eastwood is replaced by George Clooney and Western Europe during World War 2 is now Kuwait during the First Gulf War, at least on the surface and at the beginning. A heist movie where soldiers go AWOL to loot a stash of enemy gold using the chaos of war as their cover. Both movies mix humor and horror in an unsettling way. 3 Kings ends up being a bit less humor and a little more horror and also a lot more preachy by the end. Some of the points it tries...
