Playing Siege of the Citadel

There Will Be Games

So we finally played all 10 scenarios of Siege of the Citadel.  The first 4 or so missions are pretty fun.  There is enough tension because the outcome seems in doubt.  But as the game progresses and you get more equipment, it seems like the characters get too powerful relative to the monsters.  Although, it helps out that there is a limited quantity of certain pieces of equipment.

Even when we flipped the monsters to the 5-6 levels, the characters were still rolling over them.  And the last mission seemed pretty anti-climatic as I had the teleport card and a ton of actions.  So I walked into the room where the last monster was hiding out, killed him and walked out.  My team lost because I didn't beat out other players on points.  Sadly, I didn't really care, at that point I just wanted the game to end.

I'm not sure if it was because we were doing something wrong.  For instance, there are a number of items that are listed as "discard after use".  Does this mean that you don't get to keep the credits at the end of the mission?  Also, if you lose a doomtrooper, do you just lose the 1 credit or the credits for everything he was carrying.  Admittedly, the second one could be devastating if you had him loaded for bear, but that's the chance you take.

Anyways, at about the 7th or 8th mission, instead of running away from Ezoghoul, we were actively seeking him out.  He's supposed to be the baddest of the bad and not sought out like that.

All in all, I like the game still and maybe with some house rules, the end game could be better.
