			<description>Yeah - I never fell into recognising the hybrids thing as it all just comes straight back to how you define certain types of games, which no one ever agrees on. My opinion was most games people called hybrids in the last few years were still just euros with something else added in.</description>

			<description>Chaos in the Old World definitely fits your Hybrid criteria. It is about 50% (Die-based battle, Event cards, Take That Action cards) mixed with Euro-y things (Majority scoring, Majority scoring, Action Point Allocation, and multiple Victory Conditions.)

			<description>To me, 'hybrid'' has always been a silly buzzword which simply describes advancement in game design. </description>

			<description>I don't know if hybrids no longer are made, but maybe we're now so comfortable with different genres intermixing that we hardly notice anymore. And part of the decreased interest in hybrids can easily be that the hypetrain has moved on to the next buzz. Maybe hybrids are only more in the middle of the space between ideal type euros, wargames and Ameritrash than games before and after the 'Golden Age of Hybrids'. 

But I don't think we've seen the last of them yet. The mixing of mechanisms has eloped from Pandora's Box.

			<description>I haven't played it yet, but it sounds like Chaos in the Old World is poised to be the latest Hybrid du jour, borrowing equally from El Grande and Dune.  It's also interesting (to me) to note that Imperial and Shogun are relatively old designs.  I don't think Gerdts and Henn purposefully set out to design a hybrid with those games.  I think Gerdts actually began working on Imperial as far back as the 80's, but I could be wrong.  </description>
