I loved that Bruce Lee game, the one where he fights a Ninja and some big fat green man. I had it on cassette, so I'd do the ol' 'load "*",8,1' thing and then go outside and play for about three hours and come in and it would be fully loaded.

Breaking News: Agricola is a rip-off!

The boardgame is clear plagiarism of this C-64 game from 1987:

Even the player mats look the same:

Gameplay is said to be highly influenced by the dated computer game as well:

I just gotta say that I personally like carrots. I think that the Yssaril ar eeasily the best race for raising carrots. The Winnu do alright with sheep - they seem to have an affinity for them.

And there should be some beer brewing in the game. That would make me want to play it again.

You know something has gone out of style when "the mainstream" reports on it somehow. Like when the news reported on the Macarena, or when BGG made fun of Agricola in the form of a Brian Barling cartoon.
Rob Martin wearing Liederhosen and in dronken stupor and no mention of singing (or thigh slapping)? Hard to believe.
Keep in mind that Will's wife was there trying in vain to keep us from waking the children. Every Time Rob would start to do a dance she would come upstairs and hit him over the head with a very large salami, the whole thing was rather strange and it is best left unspoken.

Michael, sorry to hear you have quit. Can I have your copy of Monkey Auto Races, before you burn it?

That's it, I was joking before but Jeff Jarvis has done me in for good. I'm done. I'm burning all my games in a fire out back right now. I didn't think my 30 year old copy of MAGIC REALM would go up so quickly. Goodbye, BLACK OPS. You're next.

I even thumbs-downed your response to voice my bitter disapproval of your gauche and flippant attitude.

I think this is really a parable of what happens when we don't take These Games of Ours seriously. When we arrived, Will Kenyon was already in a drunken stupor and I suspect he may have wet himself at least once prior to our arrival. I was quite disappointed and concerned as I had anticipated a delightful evening of gaming and was greeted by shameless hooliganism.

I also have to voice some concern over the game itself. It appears that the Goat strategy has emerged as the perfect foil to the Hanno Crop Rotation Defense. When I perfected Animal Husbandry by drawing four white wooden cubes (representing sheep) out of the bag and Robert (also in an embarassing drunken stupor)bid all of his ducats in trying to collect all the strawberry cards "because they looked delicious", it was pretty clear that he was on the one way ticket to Doomsville.

I felt like Malloc and I were the only ones taking the game seriously. I paid him $20 to help me exhaust the Fertilizer cards as quickly as possible so that the game would end prematurely.

I'd like to take this opportunity to announce that after this experience I am hereby retiring from all of gaming. You people disgust me!
