I opened up Earth Reborn yesterday. The game has about four inches of stacked cardboard the size of the lid. The sculpts look tight and good to me. I think you could literally swing that box hard enough to hurt someone. It might be able to stop small arms fire.

The gameplay is simple. What makes it complex is the level of detail. 75% is moving and attacking (just like many other games out there.) We didn't use skills in the basic game but I'm pretty sure it is going to be the same system. I move to where I need to be and use # action points to get # dice.

I totally agree about Zev's eclectic tastes in the games he publishes. I think it takes real insight to recognize a good game amidst the masses especially when there are such diverse tastes in games.

Earth Reborn is really "simple"? It may very well be intuitive in person, but that rulebook makes my eyes glaze over. I really want to try this, but someone will have to explain it to me in person, or a good video tutorial would be a great help. At this point, I'm intrigued but M&M seems more at my speed and interest.

This is what I love about Z-Man, though... such a great variety of games, many of which are excellent for what they are, whether Euro or AT or whatever. A friend of mine has several of the weirdly themed Z-Man card games like Masquerade and Mountain of Inferno, and they are really clever. I wonder if we'd be aware of some of these things if Zev wasn't so open to publishing different kinds of designs. His uniqueness and lack of a consistent type of game style to publish is what actually has become his distinctive style, and that's really cool.

Absolutely. I'm struggling not to cave and get it right now even though Frank and Launius both have copies. I've got christmas presents to pay off though so it will have to wait.
To a lesser extent Merchants and Maruaders too- its another damn good game.

Steve"We wannnts it. Wee neeeeeds it."Avery

Ditto--makes me jealous! Would you buy Earth Reborn if Frank didn't own it already?

Merry Christmas!
