Someone I know posted an ad to sell Nexus Ops for $40 canadian. I'm wondering if I should scoop it up for Sam before someone else takes it. Is $40 + shipping to UK a good price? Any quick advice? (I sent Sam a message but I thought I'd ask the rest of you in case anyone thinks I should just jump on this before hearing back from him)
Anyone got a spare copy of Nexus Ops for a reasonable price? UK prices are high but cheap P&P, while US prices are low(er) but P&P is high.

Could have two of those on the pile next year?

Sam
Nexus Ops is a junk trade in Australia as it is so plentiful (I have heard it was due to a typo on an order that meant that 100 times the amount requested arrived at a distributor). I have been meaning to pick up more copies for distribution on the fort, but haven't secured one yet. I will see what I can do to secure some, but it may take 6 months or so (next Oz math trade is in January).

Great, now I guess I'm going to have to get off my ass and create a West Coast Trashfest.

Congrats to you both Matt and Sam for getting that together.

Southerman didn't show? WTF!

I've often wondered why Triple Helix Wargames' Brick & Mortar setup isn't more common, especially given the amount of empty storefront and warehouse space in my region. There seems to be an opportunity to open in a more remote location with a plusher set of services and space and make it work, especially if you include food and gaming materials into the mix.
I have also wondered that, especially in the UK where high street retail rent is very high. Wassail Games looked to move into Bath and the costs were such that they just couldn't do it.
Triple Helix works very well, as there is space for parking, they are on main bus routes, they do everything you need - tables, rules, dice, paint, glue, food and drink. They offer good prices including free pick up on online orders and they are open into the evening twice a week and all day on Saturday and Sunday. This would be very difficult to do on the High Street as space (and opening times) is restricted.

The concept of renting a table for the day seems ideal to me. My biggest problem with public game space is that you're generally packed in cheek to jowl with everyone else and that's not my idea of a good time. The empty warehouse concept alleviates that if it can be had at a reasonable price.
Can I safely conclude that the consencus is that most prefer the original edition over the FFG revamp?
Only amongst the attendees at Trashfest UK :) It's certainly my opinion, and that of the owner of the other copy in the photo, but in the wider hobby world I believe it's a minority view.

The FFG edition is very good, and well worth your time and money. But in comparison to the original it is more complex, more fiddly, less thematic, less atmospheric and often takes longer for a fairly negligible gain in strategy depth, largely in the form of the hunters spending ages trying to figure out where the hell Dracula could be given that he's six spaces away.

That's a great start to Trashfest UK and I think that is the 1st international Trashfest. It's very cool to see how things have changed from 4 or 5 years ago on the Fort. At first I only knew 2 people personally on F:AT but because of WBC, Trashfest, Conncon, etc. I've met and / or played great games with about 15 people on F:AT.
