Ancient Warfare and Medieval Warfare are almost solely about the history of their respective periods while the third is about miniatures gaming. This is egghead stuff. It generally doesn't go to original sources but provides solid, well researched articles from experts in the field. Both include reviews on miniatures, wargames and books on their subject matters in the last couple of pages, and I've found some good reads in them. The trial membership is pretty inexpensive, though at this point you may as well get twice as many issues in pdf for the same price. I have no experience with Wargames Magazine and am considering ordering a back issue pdf to give it a look. It appears to cater exclusively to miniature rulesets which aren't my thing anymore, so I'll likely not subscribe to this one. S.
