http://www.ancient-warfare.com. I can lend you a copy when I see you.

It has two sister magazines, Medieval Warfare and Wargames Magazine.

Ancient Warfare and Medieval Warfare are almost solely about the history of their respective periods while the third is about miniatures gaming.

This is egghead stuff. It generally doesn't go to original sources but provides solid, well researched articles from experts in the field.

Both include reviews on miniatures, wargames and books on their subject matters in the last couple of pages, and I've found some good reads in them. The trial membership is pretty inexpensive, though at this point you may as well get twice as many issues in pdf for the same price.

I have no experience with Wargames Magazine and am considering ordering a back issue pdf to give it a look. It appears to cater exclusively to miniature rulesets which aren't my thing anymore, so I'll likely not subscribe to this one.

So,
What is this magazine? Is it worth my time?
If I am too lazy to research it myself am I likely to actually read the magazine?

Seriously, why would you recommend it to someone?

Jasper´s a nice guy and more of an amateur than a hard boiled publisher.

If I thought I was actually going to read it all I would gladly subscribe (until the Euro collapses, yours is still monopoly money). But I don´t even get to more than browsing my Arquebusier, so I will have to pass.

Jasper just got me six issues for $18 in a format that I prefer over paper. That is one hell of a deal for this kind of magazine. New buyers will come in at $24.

Medieval Warfare Magazine isn't offered in pdf format yet so I'll likely purchase a first issue at B&N to see what I think of it.

Hi Sag,

I fully understand. You might want to consider our new digital subscription in that case. It's not 'made for' kindle, but a normal PDf downloadable as soon as the new issue is available. Perhaps at €17.95 it's more palatable?

Kind regards

Jasper
