This entry isn't going to be as thick as the last few, as I may be dropping too many new concepts at once without making sure the others work first. I think the combat system I posted in the last blog has potential but it is far from finished, that's for certain. I'm going to give a few examples of combat, and then drop some ideas on how I'm hoping to streamline the system.

Once again, thanks everyone for their comments and interest in this design process. It is always more fun being able to bounce ideas off of others, and I hope it helps the design process be more fluid. I know I tend to be a bit of a brick wall with ideas, but I'll try to stay open to suggestions.

Amateur Boardgame Design - Sword and Planet pt. 2: Frustration and Redesign

This isn't going to be such a comprehensive post as the last, but will chronicle what is now going to be a marked shift away from the previous design. I would like to thank everyone for pointing out the finer points of copyright law bfore I got too enveloped in using the Warlords of Mars theme. Although I am forced to redesign much of the game, that doesn't mean that I am not committed to an immersive, fun and interesting theme. It just means that the theme will have to be strong enough to stand on its own without any personal knowledge or nostalgia to drive interest in the game.

This is a combination of all the (relatively off-topic) posts made about a potential CDG based loosely on Twilight Struggle, yet focusing on a 4-player game of ideology and revolution beginning in the 19th century and into the 20th.

Amateur Boardgame Design - Sword and Planet pt. 1: Introduction

Like many game geeks, I really enjoy the process of creating a game, and for this reason I plan on using this blog as a place to post my ideas and get some insight from other gamers of similar inclinations. I don't have any grand plans for any of these ideas, but I do enjoy the creative outlet it gives me. I encourage anyone who might read this blog to comment with ideas, concerns, criticisms... anything really. I know every gamer and his dog want to make games, but that doesn't really discourage me. I just enjoy working on something creative to give me a break from my routine tasks in life. I expect no greatness or publications, this is just a hobby and just plain fun.
