My head is full of half-baked, unverified facts and statistics. I recall reading somewhere that sometime in the last 5 years, the videogame industry overtook Hollywood as the leading form of visual entertainment in the western world. To me, that is a huge milestone in the development of an industry that has only been available to the mainstream for the last 35 years.

Today, my job took me to a meeting on the same street as a really good second hand vinyl and CD shop (big it up for Plastic Passion in Maylands, Perth). I had a good scour after my meeting and walked out with, amongst other things, A Hat Full of Hallow by the Smiths.
I used to be a nerd. I used to build electronic kits, read nothing but sci-fi, and I was the first kid in miles to have a PC (Texas Instruments 99/4A. This predated even the Commodore Vic 20 / 64).
I've just returned from a session with a Boardgaming club I belong to. It is a well organised and supported club, has a good library of boardgames, and pleasant members with developed social skills. All types of games are played, but the focus seems to be Euros. Members on the whole tend to be tertiary educated and middle class.
