Holy Mother of God! Do you like the shakey cam? I said "Do YOU LIKE THE SHAKEY CAM?". I sure as hell hope so because your going to get it every damn second of this movie. Bring along some dramamine and an inflight barf bag. Did I mention there is a lot of shakey cam going on here? If I didn't, be advised that your longing for pseudo documentary footage, your dream of seeing every trick of coveying action that was used and over used in Battle Star Galactica, and your undying hatred of anything remotely resembling a fucking...

If jazz can be described as taking an established musical form and applying your own subjective filter to it in order to produce something both familiar and new, then Star Trek: Into Darkness is very jazzy indeed. A person with an automatic weapon with a rate of fire of hundreds of rounds per minute is trying to kill you. What do you do? Why you charge towards that person doing a couple of acrobatic moves and slow motion flips and when you get close enough you chop that person in half with your samurai sword. Duh! I'm a dyed in the wool Marvel man from way back. Never read DC comics growing up but somehow I got a hold of a copy of Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns in a graphic novel format. I was blown away. It... I almost put in the word "perhaps" here but I realized how ridiculous that qualifier is...IT IS one of the best comics ever written. First published 27 years ago, it retains all its power today. The two disc animated adaptation is the comic put in motion. It looks like it should. It sounds like it should. And...

I am a nerd. I have always been a nerd. I will always be a nerd. Even when I do un-nerdlike things, I remain, in my secret special place, a nerd. A shocking revelation I am sure. This has many implications but one of them is that you could fill the Grand Canyon with all the fucks I don't give about football. I reserve a special place in the acid bath of hate that masquerades as my heart for arrogant jocks. And what is worse, has been jocks who despite being washed-up continue to believe that the performance of...
