TOPIC: HEROSCAPE!!!!!!

HEROSCAPE!!!!!!

Another KICK-ASS tournament of Heroscape, this time in North Baltimore with a seriously big pile of people. I'd like to call out to Madwookie in particular who told me to get off my ass and drive up to attend. He did much better than I did, but both of us can take solace on not getting beaten by the seven-year-old girl (and her all-girl army) that humbled a couple of veteran players.

This may be the best game ever invented. A couple of old men at a table with me came to this agreement -- Heroscape is the Lionel Trains of the gaming world.

I don't get paid enough to buy modern games. I'm OK with the down payment, but the monthly financing just doesn't work for my budget.

Scott's the shit, Ben's the shit.

Great people up that way (well, Scott's a philly boy).

And yes, it absolutely, unequivocally is the best game ever made, ever, and by a large margin.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Heroscape is a great test for whether someone is playing games for the right reasons.

Re: HEROSCAPE!!!!!!

That was a GREAT event. I love this game, and I love the community that's built up around it. We had kids as young as 7 or 8 and at least one grandparent today, and all ages in between. Everyone was laughing and yelling and having a fantastic time just playing the game, no egos or hyper competitive fun murderers. Great sportsmanship, great stories - I'll be talking about the Unkillable Spider-Man for ages - and just all in all a great experience.

I don't make it down to the Baltimore events often, but they're always fun. We have a fantastic Heroscape scene here in the mid-Atlantic region and it always makes me glad that I've invested in the game every time I get together with those folks.

Re: HEROSCAPE!!!!!!

There's so little gaming of this sort down my way, so I may hold an event here in Annapolis if I can find a venue.

Don't know how big you are planning but you might get in touch with MWR at the Academy Party Room Rental
410-293-9200 - Reservations
Bay Room at RTF (Radio Transmitting Facility)

Retelle Room near Retelle Park
If you were planning on charging an entrance fee if you offer free entrance for enlisted and thier families you might be able to talk MWR int a discounted rate. Good luck!

Re: HEROSCAPE!!!!!!

I was thinking smaller and cheaper. A first time event in the area would likely pull 10-20 people total.

James, that's a great way of putting it.

Re: HEROSCAPE!!!!!!

Sag,

I have held events before on the cheap - a banquet room that seats 30-40 are always around at Holiday Inns, Mariotts and the like. Call your local Holiday Inns and ask them if they have space. Weekends are cheaper because most of their bookings are M-F business events.

Last one I did was in Jeffersonville, OH, at a really killer venue and it was right at 110$ for 12 hours. I took 5$ at the door, and I brought snacks and pop, the whole thing cost me like 40$.

Re: HEROSCAPE!!!!!!

I need to play more Heroscape. I enjoy it every time we drag it out, which is not often enough.
