At the last moment you close your eyes, your prayer rising to an internal crescendo, right before the creature runs straight into the tip of your outstretched staff.
Choose one:
* You deal your damage, but your staff breaks.
* You deal your damage and hold on to your staff, but the force of the collision knocks you to the floor in front of the skeleton.

I call weakly to Ligri, I slap myself as I see light dots appear before my eyes. "Damn you Fride, Mynre (Ligri's father) entrusted me to watch over the boy, I will not let 'im down." Mopping the sweat from my face with my shirt sleeve, I push on up the mountainside.

Hearing the Brother's prayers, I hold up my Holy Symbol of Nyabja and pray to the Goddess.

I charge out from behind the doorway and attempt to shoulder charge the skeleton away from Brother Thunke. If successful I try to hoist up the monk and pull him out of the passage attempting to lure the creature into my trap.

Brother Thunke
The vision of flaming death strides straight into your outstretched weapon. You maintain your grip, but are pushed back at such an angle that the bottom end of your staff strikes the wall behind you, becoming braced between the wall and the creature. The thing's sternum cracks down the middle and caves inward under the force of the resistance, but your staff snaps at the same moment and falls to pieces. The thing takes a step back to regain its balance, fragments of a broken ribcage spilling from it onto the floor.
Steini the trapper suddenly charges past you.

Gera paces carefully around the area, searching the ground for any further clue as to the whereabouts of the missing villagers. There's no sign of them, at least that she can see. From the edge of the lava field, the underbrush grows thicker to the south until it reaches the treeline. The mountain rises above you to the east, and drops toward the lake and Meervold to the west.
Where did they go? Back home? Are they messing about in the bushes?
Gunnva grunts and gestures with her chin to the west. Dark clouds are moving in across the Baldesmere, dragging curtains of rain with them. A cold breeze sweeps upward past the two of you, whipping the loose strands of your hair.
What do you do?
Fride
You realize that, in order to catch up with Ligri, he will either have to stop at some point, or you will have to increase your pace. You are hardier than most for your age, but even though you have managed to shake off the dizziness, the thin air and exertion are taking their toll. You think you could keep on at your current speed and call it good exercise, but climbing faster might overtax your limited physical resources.
The problem is, you can't trust Ligri to stop -- you've seen that boy go and go -- and you're worried he will do something stupid if you don't reach him in time.
Choose one:
* Keep your current pace and hope that Ligri stops to rest at some point
* Climb faster in hopes of catching up with him before something bad happens
