Never played the videogame nor read the books, so this doesn't seem to be in my wheelhouse, especially since I already have a lot of adventure games. Cool dice, though.

To quote myself from the last thread-

"I could not possibly be more interested in a board game product".

Witcher RULES. The characters are awesome, the world is unique, the stories are compelling. It may be another adventure game, but if Ignacy pulls it off it could be an awesome one...and he's HOT off of Robinson Crusoe, so portents are GOOD.

Super excited for this! Like Barnes said, so many factors that all point to it being awesome. Though I think having such high expectations it might let me down.

Triss in The Witcher 2 is the first time I've ever seen some sexy video game stuff and actually thought... hmmm this is kinda hot. It made me feel gross haha

I don't see why everyone's so excited. That redhead is fully clothed.

The sex scene with Triss and Geralt is the best depiction of ADULT sex in a video game so far. It really makes the Bioware stuff look especially skeevy. It's actually a very romantic (Instead of pornographic) scene between lovers and not just mid-game hookups to reward horny teenage boys.

Wow... and here Witcher 2 has been sitting in my Steam library just waiting to be played. I'll be back in 100 hours.

The PC games are super cheap on Steam this weekend.

I need to go back and finish Witcher 2.

I thought it could be soloable, but apparently it's for 2-4, plays in 2 hours, and recommended for 16+. Hopefully the game will live up to the anticipation, but it sounds good so far, with 4 asymmetric heroes to play and various ways to advance each of them.

What is a Witcher and why should I care? I don't game on my binary reader or read books (I need to fix that) so this "Witcher" is a new concept for me. I gather hot, steamy and romantic 0 on 1 action? Damn I'm full of binary jokes (and whisky) tonight. From a designer that did Robinson (great) and Stronghold (not so great).

I'm assuming you haven't played the first game, as that is TOTALLY not the case. You collect cards after you bed a chick.

Having only played the first game so far, it seems like the point is to hump everything that moves as a grimdark lone wolf bleeding with edginess. The second game was pretty well liked, so maybe it gets better?

There can be a decent amount of humping in part 2, but it's not necessarily going to happen. I did find some of it to be a little lascivious (suitably so considering the world you exist in) but that one scene Barnes is talking about, despite having nudity and being vaguely titillating, was relatively tastefully done and definitely an expression of love over lust. Also, leagues beyond the crap I found in the Mass Effect series but that might be mostly due to the Witcher having that scene scripted to a much heavier degree than the stuff in Mass Effect which by it's nature is shallow, because they have to program for the possibility of bedding anyone. With the Witcher's more focused story it allows the actions to feel more meaningful.

Either way, despite loving that 2nd game quite a bit I have very little desire to play this boardgame version. I'll wait for reviews and stay curious, but it doesn't sound like something I'd be that interested in nor able to convince others to be interested in. In fact I find that sometimes licences can be more of a liability than a help and this is one of those cases for me.

Essentially the witchers are a highly trained (bladework/athleticism, knowledge of monsters' strengths/weaknesses, alchemy/poisons/bombs and some magic) brotherhood of alchemically-modified monster hunters. They're fed special potions throughout their youth to give them preternatural reflexes, night vision, danger sense...and they need all of their skills if they want to survive their day job.

Their treatment supposedly erases their feelings, but that's obviously not Geralt's case and that's a major point in the books.

Edit: In the Witcher 2, you can visit the whorehouse, but it costs money and serves no in-game purpose.
