All I heard near the end was "Whoa! Daddy, I ~need~ to play that game.". She's 5 and she loves games. I am now completely fucked...I'm going to spend 2 weeks sourcing parts and spending a god-awful amount of money, then getting some of that expanding spray foam to fill the plastic board and make it heavier and more indestructable.
Why! Sweet Jesus, WHY!?!!?
On another note, I now also want Key To The Kingdom

I own Fireball Island and have never thought of doing this. Did they do it in that video review? Do people actually do this, and does it really work?

Classic is fun too and I still play like that when we have 3-4 people willing to make a run for it but I really love playing it two player. It's so much tighter like that with tons of really fun back and forth fuckery going on.
God I really need to clean it up though, I'd love to work on an advanced rule set for that game... it's just so perfect for what it is.

No, they didn't. I've bought some blow-molded, thin plastic terrain for mini wargaming, and it rarely is durable. I realized that what it lacked was support from the back, so I tried it. After I filled it, I took a coping saw and cut the excess off so it would lay flat (meta) and then sanded and/or chiseled the balance off to make it perfect. Shit's indestructible after that. It's also heavier, which keeps these things from moving due to bumpy tables.

This stuff is DIRT CHEAP, but brittle and easy to damage. Just fill the back with this foam (DON'T OVERFILL, ONLY FILL 30%, IT EXPANDS!) and then saw off the excess.
