Star Wars: Empire vs. Rebellion

I like this little series of $12.95 games FFG is doing.
This looks like it has roots in Cold War: CIA vs KGB.

NEAT! Definitely will buy, looks like a fun microgame. I think we are officially in a trend here.

Notice anything about this game in particular? Photos from the films. That's a first for FFG. Something must have changed in the licensing.

Wonder if they've got anything on the books for episode VII...

That's disappointing, I saw it listed as under development before the full announcement and was hoping for a full fledged board game.

A full on board game would be cool but I'm pretty sure their licence only extends to cards and mini's. I think Hasbro or someone still has the boardgame licence. When it comes up I imagine it will go for a pretty penny and FFG may have burned out their good will on Star Wars games by then. But who knows.

This does look cool, but I kind of feel that with the amount of cards I have invested into the LCG and the number of different decks I can make I'm sort of burned out on Star Wars cards right now. But at such a low price it qualifies for impulse buy I can get burned by that kind of thing.

Cold War is one of my favourite non customisable 2p games, this isn't a retheme in so curious. No rules or designer so this coukd be anything. My bet is a battleline derivative.

I know it's not in fashion around here now that it's about having as few games as possible that are cheap, but if FFG got the license I could really go for like a 100-100+ dollar badass coffin box strategic Star Wars game with minis.

The summary talks about a target number and not going bust which is what made me think of Cold War.

I would rather see a $100, big box strategic Star Wars game made by those guys at Gale Force Nine than one made by FFG.

My vote would be for Davadeau (With apologies for butchering his name). A series of games like The Queen's Gambit covering all the movies.

Agreed on the Gale Force 9 bit. But even if it was FFG, I'd just love a big hobby designed/complexity game on strategic Star Wars that had a whole hog production value.

I think we can all agree that as good as he made the Episode One material in a game, that a much superior one could be made with RotJ with the same layers: Space Battle (/Trap!), Endor ground battle and dual.

C'mon!

We're due for a sequel to Queen's Gambit.

FFG also just announced Wave 5 for X-Wing. Are they running out of steam and/or ideas?

Whoa, wait, forget original trilogy. What's really needed is a Clone Wars strategic boardgame. Maybe 2 player, maybe you could add a few more with interesting combo roles???

It would actually make an amazing card driven wargame.

It would need a flip-flop card where Anakin belittles his padawan for behaving towards him in the exact same manner that he behaves towards Obi-Wan.

Side A: Belittle Padawan. Flip this card.
Side B: Take the same action that your padawan just took. Flip this card.
