Yeah I suppose you could lay out a track that looked exactly like say Spa Francorchamps and call it something else, like Fra Spankyourchamps.

Maybe I haven't played it enough, but is there a point gameplay-wise to extra Thunder Alley tracks? The only major strategies I worry about on the 4 existing tracks is the number of lanes and the length (for damage & pitting purposes).

I see the point to extra Formula D(e) tracks because in that game you're shifting gears, the length of straightaways matters, stopping in corners matters, etc. Thunder Alley is really more of a hand management and positioning game. The length and shape of the corners and straightaways don't really matter beyond how lanes converge and diverge. The existing tracks already do a good job of that.

That said, I'm already on the P500 list for Grand Prix. I'm interested in what gameplay changes GP brings to the TA formula. Worst case scenario I only keep one of the two games and sell the other between printings.

I don't see much of a point in buying additional tracks, as you said it won't change up the gameplay that much. I don't think they ever really wanted to do more tracks but when the masses on BGG started clamoring for more they decided to step up and make some more money.

I'll be honest, I think three of the four tracks in the first box are pretty doggone similar.

Sags starting to become the "anti-Dragonstout"; instead of showing up to talk positively about MtG, he shows up to talk negatively about Thunder Alley

I think the extra tracks are cool if you want to run a season.

That's exactly what I'm saying. The way the game and rules are built most track designs are going to be pretty similar. (That's not a criticism.) It's NASCAR. Having 1-lane corners wouldn't be fun. Having a road track that has lots of normal 3-lane straightaways and 2-lane corners isn't going to feel much different either.

I will place my honesty on the shelf if you prefer.
