It's bland, but it is unique, at least.

"Unique" does not translate to "good." Replace either of those words with "interesting" and the sentence still holds true.

What's more the problem is that while good writing in gaming is pretty close to non-existent, what writing there is in the Terrinoth games is particularly embarrassing, especially in Descent 2.0. It's a good thing I like the gameplay since getting into the story of each scenario is _impossible_. Same holds true for the other Terrinoth games. Terrible, terrible crap. That anyone would a) take the time to read all of it and b) walk away thinking, "Wow, this is pretty cool!" leaves me bewildered and a little disappointed. Writing/art standards in gaming are already really low, it's never going to change if people continue to be impressed by garbage.

Yes, I am aware that the Star Wars setting is not going to fix this issue, but at least I can get somewhat vested in it at the topmost surface level.

While it can be argued that the coffin box craze mainly drove online business due to the high price point and infrequent publishing cycle, the LCG and minis systems out now feature low price points and frequent publication cycles. This has got to be a boon for brick and mortar stores, who desperately seek traffic drivers. Most of these items are at an impulse buy price point .

Yeah, every Netrunner pack I picked up was from a local shop. Paying $12 (what they sell it for) is a better value than paying $10 but having to work to get it shipped free. Alternatively though I've bought all my X-Wing stuff from CSI, because I tend to buy it in bulk and picking up 4 ships for $40 is way more appealing than $60+tax.

Ha ha... I knew you guys would flip over this...

I'm skipping all the Star Wars game. I have friends with fleets of X-Wing, Armada is too complex & fiddly for me, and Imperial Assault is just redundant.

If anything, I'd get the 40k Conquest game, just the base game to slug it out.

Unless, of course, I'm not a Star Wars guy.

Maybe it's because I haven't played or bought much of anything in a long time, but I think this looks pretty awesome. At any rate I think it's something that I would gladly try to find the time and money to get into. Descent 2.0 is a pretty solid game I think, and the license makes a big difference to me.

I'm not completely clear how much more monetized this will be than plain ol' Descent, but it sounds like it will lean towards a more manageable "small purchase" model. Either way I'm not sure why people are complaining about this but didn't seem to mind Descent 2.0 releasing basically the same thing. A little bit of sticker shock, but I haven't bought a new game literally all year, so I'm at least in wait-and-see mode.

It might just be because I never invested in X-Wing, but this looks like fun to me.

this....moves IA definetely to the wait and see group. Too many small expansions all at once for me.

Like you're shocked they are putting out a ton of expansions for this?

I think those look really cool. I'll never buy this game but getting an IG-88 would be sweet.

no, but it firmly puts it into a skirmish miniatures game moreso than star wars descent
