Trashfest Southwest?

Just a head count, who all is actually coming to BGG.Con? I have my name on the waiting list to get a second-hand ticket, and I can even make last minute plans to go because I'm right in the area.

95% sure I'll be there. And then 95% sure that if I am, I'll be running Pretty Pretty Princess to discover the South's Prettiest!

The Austin BoardGameBash just finished in early August. I'm not going to BGGCon, but am not opposed to going up to Dallas for an occasion. A road trip like that likely won't happen tip after the Holidays though.

Have you set a date and place yet. I might be heading to Arkansas in October and I can probably set up a weekend layover in Dallas if F:at members are getting together.

My sense is no one has time or energy to organize anything (no implied criticism, I don't either) so we don't have anything scheduled.

Yeah, I am too busy finding my feet right now to organize something. If anyone wants to get together on a a spur-of-the-moment thing, I'm all for it. I just don't think something big is what I can put together right now.

I lived in the same metro as VonTush for 8 years, and we got together all of three times. I lived 2.5 hours from Space Ghost and never did meet him.

Making this kind of thing happen is tough, but hopefully we can do it sooner than later.

Jeff is by far the prettiest.

You may have the right instinct, though, to piggyback it onto some other con (e.g. BGG.con). I find BGG.con a bit strange because it is *at* DFW airport, but I can see why the logistics for it would be solid. And I'm sure the facilities are good.

So it turns out that Dallas Games Marathon has a storefront that can be rented out for events like this. They are in Plano by a bunch of restaurants, with an enormous game library. They have some recurring weekend events, but if we plan a few weeks out I'm sure we could get one of the open weekends.

Do we still want to make Trashfest Southwest happen? I can do some legwork and find out some open dates for the first part of 2015.

Interested, but to be honest this may be difficult. All of the Austin area FATties that I know have young kids. Driving up to DFW for a full weekend may be difficult for a lot of us, but of course I can't speak for all.

Difficult, but not impossible.

I think the most success would be to throw it in as part of BGG con or something. Some reason families are already going up there.

Personally, I'm cleared for at least one full, family free gaming weekend a year. Last year we included some time at the range, but previous years it was at the Austin Board Game Bash. For 2015 I could potentially forgo something local and maybe drive up.

That is, unless, Chapel and I finally get Camp Game off the ground...
