Bonaparte at Marengo/Napoleon's Triumph/Guns of Gettysburg would not be nearly as good-looking with minis. I'm pretty sure Wallenstein just wouldn't work with them either. All those plastic dudes would form a knot in the plastic dude tower, and nobody would win a fight, ever.

So, uh, how about that Study in Emerald? I still haven't been able to play it, but if Grudunza does end up being able to put together a VASSAL mod (sorry, didn't have time to scan), I'm putting together a live VASSAL game, stat.

Thread-jacker.

I only played it once and I'm not interested in playing it again. I had a good teacher too. Based on what I've read about it here it appears to take a few plays to get the hang of? Is that a fair comment?

It's great. I'd be up for a game if the VASSAL mod happens.

The module is nearly ready to try out... Would like to do a test game this weekend, hopefully.

Possibly. I forgot that I'm heading out of town Sunday morning, so I can't guarantee I'll have the time, after all. Might have to wait another week until I'm back.

Got to play it last weekend. It was a learning game with 5 as I was the only one who had played before. Unfortunately my last play was many months ago and I didn't remember half the rules. So after a shitty rules explanation we got underway and I think it went okay. In short order we had Zombies and Vampires out, both under the control of the 2 player green team. Zombies were spilling out and managed to massacre a number of agents, I had turned a couple into Vampires and the game was steaming ahead.
I had established a reasonable lead and was close to ending the game when the restorationists decided to take me down to second last by grabbing my cities with assistance from the last placed restorationist player, who had misunderstood a number of key rules and had had some unlucky draws. However they then did nothing to assist her in getting some points on the board to overtake me, or to grab cities from my partner who was left her free to end the game by pushing up the war track.
There was a clear split in the table between the people who loved the game and those who hated it. It's definitely a game that takes some getting used to and I fear those who disliked it will never be back but it continues to find an audience with certain people.

I'm impressed by how so many comments over at BGG express a mixture of interest and confusion. Many found it interesting, but can't decide if they like it or not.
