Odd that this article came out when it did. I have been making mental checklists in my head on how to simplify my life more. Boardgames happened to be on the "stuff I'd keep list". Very few things I do return the amount of entertainment, mental exercise, and social interaction per dollar spent. That's a good thing, as I have a healthy respect for the practical things.

My list is far more elaborate and beyond the scope of this article, but i very much enjoyed it.

You could also take the Peter Drucker approach to games in your collection. "If I didn't own this today, would I buy it?" If the answer is no, get rid of it.

I usually don't spend too much time thinking about the games in the closet. Usually it's "hey, come over and play some games" or "I haven't played Successors in awhile, time to organize a weekend day to get that to the table."

This article had me ranking games relative to each other and I realized I really miss being in a Formula De league. The one guy I know who also owned most of the tracks moved away, so I think I'm going to put feelers out to organize a league again.

I like the test mentioned above about 'If I didn't have something, would I buy it?'. Looking at my list, I think I could totally be fine with just those 10. This excites me going forward.

I like the Citadels mention. It does get a ton of play and it is part of my 'old reliable' category. It just got nudged out by Settlers and Condo.

I've heard of Formula De leagues before, but have never played in one...nor have I played Formula De in about 15 years. I know a guy with a ton of maps. So, school me. What is involved in league play?

By that metric I'd get rid of all of my games. I don't have any spare money right now.

That's not helping me... I own about 300+ games and, yep, I'd buy all of them over again :(

Except Legendary: Encounters, which would have gone already, but my husband prefers it to Marvel Legendary so I think I must be missing something and need to play it more.
