Best Video Games of 2014

I haven't played many 2014 games but I doubt there will be many games better than Freedom Planet, if simply because it outshines most of the 16-bit classics it takes inspiration from. If you like Sonic, Sparkster, Contra Hard Corps and other Mega Drive titles this is probably the game to seek. It's much better than Shovel Knight, which is solid but can't really compete with the classics head to head.

Like most Nintendo games, I don't think it will drop more than five dollars and for that price I would buy a brand new disc.

Really recommend it, though. It has all the improvements of Brawl without the slow, floaty physics that so many people hated. It's the best Smash Bros game.
