Looks like we're 2-3 months away from Catacombs being delivered. Here are some pics of the updated boards and art.

Old boards vs. new board size

The boards have no artwork yet.

Pic of the free barrier walls included in the kickstarter

These will be some of the artwork for the new boards. Can't wait!

Artwork for some of the new items.

Artwork for some of the new heroes.

I didn't think I'd like the art as much as I do. I also didn't know that the board sizes are so much larger. That would've made a big difference.

Ah well.

How can this be 2-3 months out with the boards not being printed yet and Chinese New Year? Is this being printed in Europe?

Back when I momentarily considered this, it was shipping in November. Going on four months late and none of this is finalized at press and is looking like two to three months more? Have they offered an explanation?

Thank Crom I didn't blow money on this nonsense.

Explanation is kickstarter. Everything on kickstarter is at least 6 months late.

Credit has to be given to:
-Red Raven Games - My copy of 8 Minute Empires - Legends: Lost Lands came in yesterday a month ahead of the anticipated deliver date of March.
-Indy Boards & Cards - My copy of Flash Point: Fire Rescue - Honor and Duty arrived just one month late (Dec '14 instead of Nov '14).

Otherwise, I think a lot has to do with the Add-On trap and underestimating the logistics of coordinating and finalizing thousands of custom orders.

Next month Incursion will be 1 year late. I'm none too pleased about it.

I don't think this is just a Kickstarter anomaly. Would you place bets on a large publisher hitting a specific month given before they've sent their files to the printer or worked out all of the artwork/sculpts?

The difference is Kickstarter is more transparent.

Sheisty Kickstarter that threw in a last-minute all-in tier is late with delivering product? Inconceivable!

And that's for a game that already existed.

The kickstarter was just too expensive for what they offerred, IMO.

It's a great game that I will happily wait to buy at a considerable OLGS discount once its finally released. One of the few KS projects that made that choice easy for me, instead of waffling on the decision.

I think if you back a ks, that you should add a year to expected delivery dates. Not because that is a good way to do business, but because lowering my expectations significantly decreases my consumer anguish when it inevitably misses their target shipping date. It seems this is a fairly common mantra among ks consumers nowadays.

I guess memory's a fickle thing. FFG were notorious for announcing a bunch of games and expansions early in the year at the GAMA trade show in March or so, just for everything on their list to be released way later than anticipated, by about 6-12 months. Now they usually announce something just a few months prior to release, unless they want to work up enthusiasm for a big release, even then they don't give a specific release date so as to avoid getting burned by nerd-rage at not getting their toys by a specific date.

But of course the difference with KS, besides transparency, is that the backers have already PAID.

I've got this coming. Couldn't be more excited and I'm totally fine with the delay if the final product is better for it.

So is there recourse in the time period between payment and receipt? I've backed out of more than a few P500s because I've lost interest over time, and there's no penalty for doing that. But it doesn't charge until it's almost ready to ship. Can you do that with a Kickstarter once it's billed you? Can you ask for a refund?

Heck for most MMP preorders your card has expired before they charge it. You have about zero worry of getting an unwanted game.
