Thunder Road, I'm starting a rumor

Weird timing. I've noticed that FFG when bringing back a reprint of a classic will tend to ask people who rated the game highly to playtest. I was asked to playtest a couple games, Borderlands/Gearworld for example.

Recently, my nephew was asked to playtest a game for them, and I noticed Thunder Road was one of the few games on his rated list that he raves about.

SO it has me wondering, is FFG is bringing back Thunder Road? Maybe under the Mad Max license?

Am I mad? Am I shiny and chrome?

And the threat dials, the doom tracker, the heart tokens, the giant 1st player marker, the two rulebooks, the errata, the FAQ, the expansion, the $99.95 MSRP...

God help us if they go the X-Wing route...

While most of this is both funny and true, I'm actually a big fan of FFG's new two rule book approach. I meant to start a thread to see what other folks here thought about it. The last two games I've bought from them (eldritch horror and forbidden stars; both in house stand alone designs that aren't part of an ongoing card/miniatures line) had a rules overview booklet and a glossary booklet and I find It makes it so much faster to get the game set up and started. I'll take their two book system over slogging through 40 pages of sleep inducing rules any day of the week.

If FFG were to make Thunder Road with the Mad Max license and do a core set with mini expansions I would be the first to post that Shut Up And Take My Money pic. I don't think the Thunder Road license would be worth their buying though. They could just do Wreckage 2nd Edition with gameplay based on TR. As soon as someone posts a comment online of how W2 is similar to TR they'll get all that Thunder Road sales money anyways.

Jay, I'm with you- I actually really like that approach and it has made getting their games to the table the first time a lot easier- and reference- wise, it's easier to get to what you need. They sort of split the difference between having the more narrative/procedural style and the reference guide style and...just did both. It works really well, especially in Forbidden Stars and Imperial Assault. The actual "rules" are much easier to get a hold of in their more recent titles.
