Space Cadets: Away Missions at GenCon

My buddy grabbed a quick snapshot of Space Cadets: Away Missions at GenCon. When I asked him to go have a look, he sent this photo back with the message, "Best I could do, the line is crazy to demo."

Looking forward to seeing thekickstarted product in my house!

Must be satisfying for Al et al to see the finished products with minis and bits.

I believe that neither Al nor Dan have seen a production copy yet. That's why I posted the photo.

Damn...looks NICE! Can't wait to get my copy. Hopefully Stronghold sent Dan and Al a copy prior to Genny.

It's irritating to me that when you preorder, the schleps at GenCon get to buy it first. I know they have to pay for the booth and whatnot, but still, it's irritating.

In any event, I am so thrilled for Al and Dan. It's got to be a great feeling knowing that it not only got made, but it got made RIGHT, and that the lines are out the door for it. I'm super-jazzed about it. I just got my shipment confirmation for Exploding Kittens too, so this August will be awesome.

It's good to hear that there's a lot of interest in the demo. This game sounds really fun and I can't wait to get my hands on it. This will probably be the game that finally gets me back into painting miniatures. We'll see...

Meanwhile, I don't mind seeing publishers selling limited quantities of a kickstarted game at Gencon or another big convention before the KS supporters get their copies. It would be one thing if they went out of their way to prioritize convention attendees over KS supporters, but I don't think that's usually how it works. Where I've seen it happen is in cases like this, where the publisher gets the finished game in time to get some to the convention and drive up interest in it but not in time to ship out all of the boxes to KS supporters before the convention. Seems like the most reasonable way to handle the situation.

Nope. No early copies for the designers. We will get to see the game for the first time next week at WBC. Probably, the demo copy that they are using a GenCon.

Maybe you should have supported the kickstarter. Then you'd have a copy.

Boooo! Not being silly or anything, that's _not_ okay and a certain someone should be ashamed of themselves.

I suppose that makes sense if supplies are so limited. I dunno. I would have seen to it that they got their copies right away. I don't think anyone eagerly awaiting the game would have said, "Now wait a minute, fuck those guys!" And if they did say that, they don't deserve one anyway.

I understand it makes sense to sell all the copies but it just strikes me as a little weird, like if a record label didn't give a musician a free copy of their new album. On the other hand, if it were me I'd be okay with waiting if it meant one more gamer enjoying it and talking it up to his friends.

Also, I can't believe how good it looks, I keep coming back to this thread to ogle that pic.
