Star Wars Gaming Megathread

I've only ordered 1 of each ship in the last few waves (including wave 7). Except for the two Agressors, and a recent purchase of a second YT-2400 because I've borrowed a friend's several times to run two of them.

I've learned to only order 1 of each because I can always get more later if I feel like I need them. It's only happened once, in the example above.

Wave 8 will be no exception.

I typically get two of the small ships and one of the big ones and haven't duplicated any big ones except the Aggressor. If I'm feeling it with the small ships, I'll get another one or two to fill out a list, but I think I've only done that a couple times. Of course, once I traded for the base set, I bought another one so that I'd have more dice, plus more TIEs. I think I have six of the latter now.

Oh yeah! Star Wars Rebels is getting the X-Wing treatment and I am IN. I love the Ghost and Phantom so those are an auto-buy and that Imperial cruiser looks great. It's from the Rebels series and I think it looks sweet too so that might be my first large ship purchase.

That is going to be a lot of new stuff- pilots, droids, even templates with the S-loop marked on them. I am betting the new Tie can S-loop. We can see that the new X-wings have built in boost.

I've seen a bit of discussion on how compatible things are going to be. I would be surprised if the do two new factions and very very surprised if the new core set is not 100% compatible with all the stuff we currently have. Although flying Rebel; the cartoon era pilots with The Force Awakens pilots seems a bit weird.

While those black TIE Fighters look pretty cool, I don't think I can justify getting two more X-Wings and three more TIE Fighters, even if they are a separate type of ship. I think this is where I'll start passing on new releases, which I have yet to do.

yeah- I've been selectively skipping since wave 4 (no e-wing), then passed on the Outrider, and have not gotten IG-88 or the little brown ship, although I plan to get a few of this one some day. I mostly play imperials.
The Raider is the first epic ship I picked up. Have not had a chance to use it.

This core set will go on a wish list in case someone wants to give it to me as a gift, but I don't have much interest in owning it right now. Although I see there is some sort of new upgrade.... so we'll see.

I am very interested in the imperial cruiser with the docked TIES. That ship will take me up to 7 TIE fighters, should be enough.

Do you guys think there will be a new falcon?

Since a new Falcon would be the same mold except for a square dish, it's probably easy money.

Since I don't play in tournaments, I can just print out new upgrade cards of existing types. The new stuff I'll have to wait and see.

I was out after Wave 7, but then Wave 8 had a bunch of new and interesting mechanics, so I caved. Maybe Wave 9 is where I'll finally be able to exert some self control.

I'll go the proxy route on these too.
It's just too expensive to keep up anymore.

I bet they are wishing that they were doing Loopin' Chewie.

I have begun my Loopin' Chewie vigil. I know it is not supposed to be out until September 1 (?), but there have been photos of it in the wild. I have informed my children to be vigilant as well and to alert me if they see a copy.

It would be nice if they would just do a card pack with Old Han and Middle-Aged Chewbacca to put on existing YT-1300s. But I guess they won't likely do that. Certainly Dameron Poe comes with that new starter. But I think I'd still proxy the set.

Wonder what Kylo Ren flies, we haven't seen that yet...or if the Knights of Ren have some kind of cool space-steeds or something.

I went to two Targets and two Walmarts last night, none had Loopin Chewie yet, but one of the Walmarts had a stocking sheet taped up with the name on it. So I have high hopes this weekend.

Apparently these photos have been floating around a while, but I just saw them today. From what little info I've been able to gather from this BGG thread, it looks like they are re-theming Queen's Gambit to Episode 6?
