This one crept under the radar for me, designed by Ignacy Trzewiczek. It's a dice battle game where you build up your pirate ship to take down merchant ships at sea.
Seems light enough to be a family game with maybe just enough complexity for gamers. The components look stunning, it even includes real metal coins.
My main concern is that the dice battle system might be too random for some players taste. Looks fun as a beer 'n pretzels type of game though.

You had me at "Ignacy Trzewiczek." Otherwise I wouldn't be that interested in a new battle dice game. But with him, who knows?

The game releases sometime in late Aug / Sep so we should be getting reviews soon. My collection is in need of a good pirate game.

I'm all over this one. Looks like a great light weight pirate game. Sign me up.

The location of the dice mechanic is genius, I wouldn't expect anything less from this designer. Wow. I would never have thought of doing simultaneous rolling to create *location* informatin.

It's interesting, clever, and fun. However, it's very fiddly, random, and a couple of players hated it.

I am a big Portal fanboy, but I got a demo of Rattle Battle at Dice Tower con and it didn't look too exciting.
Then my daughter played it, whose opinion I value highly, and she was very meh on it. And I've gotten the same from most other folks who have similar taste to me.
Also, FWIW, the core mechanic was not developed by Ignacy. He got it from another design team, who actually are including it in ANOTHER pirate game with the same toss the dice in a box mechanic, which should be coming out real soon as well. They couldn't agree on how much additional 'fluff' they wanted around the core dice-chucking, so they both ended up making their vision of the game.
I have no idea how that will turn out. Probably not great for both.

Watching it demo'd at Gen Con the word "fiddly" was firmly on my mind. It looks great from an artwork and component quality, but it looked like the rules might get in the way of the fun.

The rulebook is very weak too, had a tough time going through and trying to learn at Gen Con. For how light the game is that's a bit of an issue.

The rule book is very confusing, and this same problem of trying to figure it out without a demo. Also there are a few errors. Everyone who has tried it since I have navigated the rule book has enjoyed it though.
