Has anyone played this? My wife and I love Liebe & Intrige and have frequently talked about how great it would be if it was rethemed with Jane Austen characters. I'm thinking about getting this as a Christmas present for my wife, is it as good as Liebe & Intrige or at least different enough to justify having both?

Legomancer talked a lot about this game in the boardgames played thread and on his blog.

The title sounds like a LARP game the characters from Glee would be into.

Replied by JEM on topic Let's talk MARRYING MR. DARCY
Our group found it a bit random/luck driven in the sense that you might really need to collect certain sets and just never get any of those cards. We did have a lot of fun every time it was PARTY TIME, though.

It is a super-light game, with few "meaningful decisions". The characters are wildly imbalanced. It's basically, "draw a card, resolve that card, hope you get what you need", and the end comes down to die rolls. I've not played Liebe and Intrigue, so I can't compare them.

BUT, it is goofy fun, and it's always been a fun time when I've played it, except when I've played with people who'd rather be playing something like Kanban.

We like goofy fun. I have never even heard of Kanban so that shouldn't be an issue.

The deal breaker for you may be that I don't think it really plays well with 2 players, and is most fun with 6. Liebe & Intrige is a better game, but Marrying Mr. Darcy will be appreciated by P&P fans. It has all the characters, and you will recognize the events from the book in the cards. It's super light, plays fast and has a fair amount of "take that" going on. But in the end it just all comes down to a die roll, which some people will hate. I like it, but mostly as a late night game to play at a con.

Played Marrying Mr Darcy this past weekend and had a lot of fun. We had a good group of people who got into their characters, which I'm pretty sure makes all the difference. The game was designed and composed by a single person and it shows in how, much to the game's benefit, singular it is in its focus. There isn't a lot to this game, but it makes damn good use of what it's got. I'm a fan.

Everytime I read this thread title I think that it sounds like a British Rules variant for Shower Rescue.
