I like the look of it. Probably worth a punt for my games group.

They've rethemed Santiago!

Retheemed Santiago ? Is that good or bad?

This is a terrific game which can be quite brutal. Doesn't get anywhere enough love as it should.

From comments to a Santiago review. Sounds promising.

PS. Much better review with more encouraging comments.

It can be played online too!

This game is surprisingly brutal for a maths puzzle. You can see relationships deteriorating and angry faces as the game goes on. It's that human factor that makes it so fun to play.

A little more props I'll give to the Android line. There seems to be plenty of able and fully clothed female characters to play as.

Last comment from me on if Android is cyberpunk or just sci-fi. In my experience with cyberpunk you have individuals fighting against oppressive, established orders using the new technology in ways not fully intended. The phrase "high tech, low life" comes to mind. Android seems more just "high tech".

Like I said, I'm on the verge of getting some and I like the look of this title.

Also, Cyberpunk 2020 appears to be reborn...

It's actually a reimplementation of board game Bauhaus.

The original Android board game was really a stew of P K Dick & Heinlein (+ Blade Runner film obviously). It was a future noir detective story set in a world with a moon colony and replicants. It was a pretty nice amalgam. Written content and the board art really captured the feel. Character art was mostly the usual FFG sub-Anime stuff.

The Neuromancer bits—satirical depiction of corporations gone mad in an age of free data transfer, medically altered deck-jockey cowboy hackers—only came in with the Netrunner reprint. It doesn't really match up with the world Kevin Wilson designed or the FFG house style. So it got cutified.

A:NR is still one of the best card games ever. But the factions are unnecessary (a commercial necessity?) and they took out a lot of the xmcrazier card concepts, presumably because long running card balance is more important in the LCG format.

I don't suppose we'll ever see a card like Blink, which makes me laugh every time I use it:

This does look pretty cool. I like the box.

Something about this made me wonder when the hell is the next game in the Euro Classics line coming out and what is it going to be?

Gosh, I almost wish that I didn't know it was originally that Bauhaus game. What a shame that the awesome, minimalist and very unique visual style has been thrown away. Mainframe doesn't look bad and in fact I really like the Tron-y blue lines on black, but the original version had a really cool style appropriate to its namesake.

GAMES MUST HAVE PICTURES OF CHARACTERS. That is the mandate.

I'm wondering what is next for Euro Classics too...they came in with those right at the top. I wouldn't be surprised if a reprint of Through the Desert were next. Most of the other top-shelf games I'd consider to be in the same class as T&E or Samurai are with other publishers. El Grande, for example.

Hmm...maybe Attika? That would be a really cool one for them to do. But it's not quite in that upper echelon.

Hey, I like characters.

Character art was mostly the usual FFG sub-Anime stuff.

I think the Android character paintings were quite different from most FFG stuff. They're simple in design with broad brush strokes and slightly oblique/asymmetric way of drawing. Julie Dillon drew the characters, and I think she nailed it.

So, the first game in the Android series is a murder mystery of sorts then the next three titles are runners vs corps?

I read up on the Android universe last night and there are several neat areas to explore. The situation on Mars (maybe a Doam?), the race to build the first/best bioroid plant (deckbuilder?), etc. Seems the Netrunner concept has taken over the Android universe. Maybe the next title will branch out a bit more besides this one area.

Yup. The world definitely carried on, though. Both the suspects and the PIs from Android turned up on cards in Netrunner, for example. They just started to focus more on the hacking and less on the transhuman labour relations, moon colony politics and other aspects, presumably because Netrunner was a hit and Android was a flop.

That's what I was thinking when I saw it. That, or the lines and boxes game parents play with their kids in restaurants whilst waiting for food.
