Kingdom Death. How to screw up, and be awesome

The game comes with enough minis to model many survivors but you just use 4 at a time. So you kind of throw together minis that are close enough to what you're wearing.

So I may have several minis with medium-ish armor and a mix of two handed weapons and others with single handers and shields. Maybe I just build a single guy with a bow since I don't use ranged weapons very often and always use that mini.

The game is great. So far, I have only assembled monsters and have been playing with stand in mini-heroes.

Reason: I believe that this is made with the goal of magnetizing the hero minis so you can make the customizable (sp?) to their weapons, etc. My skills aren't there yet, so I thought I would wait and try to do some drilling on some cheaper minis to see if I can get it to work correctly. I might just give up and do what Charles is doing -- which seems like a much more reasonable (and completeable) goal.

Magnet stuff would be cool for the weapons.

Those minis look amazing and I am not someone who is regularly blown away by minis. Honestly, I'm not even sure I'd paint them. They could use some base coat and a wash or something though to draw out detail... I wonder how hard that would be? Have you guys messed with that?

Ha, maybe Kingdom Death will be a permanent employment tenure gift to myself if my spouse gets tenure... It's the only way I can justify that much money. But it's a classy production, looking at all the BGG images.

Magnets aren't bad, Doug. Just make sure to get magnets 1/16 smaller than the drill you use. Drop of glue, and bang.

For the mating surface, use steel sheet that's thin enough to cut with a hole punch. Glue that on the opposing side and you're all set.

You'll have to explain the second sentence regarding the mating surface....

I think he talked about magnet-to-metal attachment (as opposed to magnet-to-magnet). Magnet drilled into one part, a metal sheet glued onto the other.

Come on, you probably spent more than that on Armada ships by now! (just in case you needed egging on...)

Get your wallets ready? Definitely on the fence, if it were just the game and standups or something I'd be all in but I'm just not that big a painter/modeler. In this case, the game itself is the attraction for me. As much as I love putting together and painting four piece model buttholes.

Day after Thanksgiving...that is really awesome for people that don't have spouses or families to take care of at Christmas...

Too soon and bad timing, damn it. Not that there's going to be a good time for this expense, but eating into the Xmas fun bucks... that may just put this game on my regret list. Bummer.

It's actually sort of good timing for me. My career situation will be much clearer by November and I'll know if I can blow 400+ dollars on some bullshit.

You say that like your kids wouldn't love gluing together a giant bird with a bunch of hands crawling out of it's asshole?
