At the risk of crapping in the thread I started about this game...

I don't really recommend it.

Pros:
It's exactly the perfect PC game of twenty years ago. On your iPad.
Tons of content that could lead to hours and hours of gaming.
Multi-factioned for variety
Deep strategy

Cons:
Poor tutorial or instruction
Who is looking for a 15hr game on their iPad?
The battles get boring pretty quickly
Scrolling around and adjusting workers in 8+ cities every turn to maximize economy and efficiently built out your tech I also find tedious.
It's Planar. There are different planes to conquer. It's a pain in the ass to try to get from plane to plane sometimes.

Anyhow, I was laid up after knee surgery and needed something to while away the hours for my iPad. Played a few aborted games because 6-10 turns in I realized I did some horribly sub-optimal shit because I had no idea wtf I was doing. Played a couple of smallish games where I had learned from my mistakes. Then I tried a big game on a more difficult setting. It was going ok, but what a grind!!!!, so many battles. I conquered all of one plane, most of another, and was starting on the last when the game spawned a Titan out on my ass. Must have been like turn 80! I was trapped on a plane with this humongous Titan that I couldn't even scratch with my best army. And it is a pain in the ass to get to a new plane in the first place. I never found a way to reactivate a portal once I used it once. So I just quit the game after like 8-10 hrs of play and have not picked it back up. I am sure there are folks that would really enjoy this kind of game. But I found it too tedious and repetitive.

Why is battle boring? Is the battlefield too large? Animation is slow? Too many hitpoints? Do you keep using the same tactics? Does it take a lot of time to replenish your force?
