Actually, let's read this guy's fantastic review:
boardgamegeek.com/thread/369147/real-gro...ctive-nexus-ops-crap

Anyway, doesn't this game have a 2v2 mode or am I thinking of NH? If so, anyone play the 2 on 2 game? Don't think I ever have...

Ha! The result of my reading that review is that I'm sad I have the FFG version instead of that one. It's so much brighter and easier to see.

I don't recall seeing a 2v2 variant in the rules, but it could be there. We've only played every man for himself. N Hex does have a team version. I've never played that either.

It does have a 2v2 mode. Teams sit across from each other and go for 20 points as a team instead of the usual 12 individually. I think the one time we tried it, one team decided to pressure one guy very heavily and that won them the game. It might play out differently other times. I made one of the most poorly timed and lopsided trades to get Nexus Ops, but I don't really regret it.

2v2 works, but the game is obviously designed for free for all. Usually the other team hits the first player hard as quickly as possible, since they have a resource constraint for going first, and the game falls from there.

I have both the AH and FFG versions had have played the 8 player variant, which is a poor time. As cool as it may sound.

I don't remember a 2v2 variant in the AH edition, but FFG were offering a few variants to try and sell the game a second time to suckers. I didn't feel the need to indulge them.

What's to talk about? One of the best games every printed. Easy to learn, super pretty. Love it.

Indeed, just a great game. I think the thing I like the most about it is how everything is geared toward acceleration and radically trimming down the build-up period in most DoaM games.

Brilliant game. The review still holds up and makes me chuckle.

Traded a sealed copy of mansions of madness for a sealed copy of it. That poor sucker got the shit end of the deal.

I e end bought a second sealed copy elsewhere for $30, so I know I'll never be without a copy.

I wish the FFG edition was better than the ah version. But at this point, I only want a copy of the FFG cards. The rest is trash, even though the models are nice.
