I don't need a mockup of dudes on a map, I need to see how they are treating the pegs on a board part of the game.

So cool.

With Richard Borg, Kevin Wilson and Eric Lang - it's hard to see this one fail. #justjinxedit

That's a lot of big name designers on one box, which gives me immediate cause for concern.

I know! What if their egos clash! What if they bicker over how to do the Ezoghoul?

Peg boards, I can assure you, will not be a thing. Which is sad. Along with spinners and paper money, they are among the awesome things that crybaby gamers have all but willed out of existence.

I dunno, I'm interested in seeing how this turns out, but it seems like it's about ten years too late. There are so many games like this now, I'm not sure how it is going to make a case for itself.

Yeah. It'll probably come with an app or some shit. Or some fucking cubes to cover dots with like ECLIPSE.

If they've kept the campaign system where the players take turns being the necromutants, that would set it apart from other somwhat similar games.

If the pegboards aren't IN, then I'm OUT.

You could always pimp your set out with cribbage boards.

Leave it to Christian Marcussen to design an expansion with a Wind spinner in 2015.

The way SotC rotated the Dark Legion player neatly sidestepped one of the biggest gripes about all-vs.-1 games: one person - usually the game's owner - gets stuck playing as the 1 all the time. This seems counterintuitive in a campaign setting but in another inspired bit of design they made it so the DL player still accrues XP for their Doomtrooper team while they're playing the bad guy, thus encouraging the DL player to go all-out and not pull their punches. It also helped that the mechanics were simple enough that anyone, even a newbie, could slide right into playing the DL.

I also like how the Doomtrooper cards reinforced the theme of competitive, uneasy alliance from the Mutant Chronicles fluff while simultaneously allowing players to directly screw each other over - and possibly jeopardize the ultimate success of the mission - instead of the race for XP being the only way players can interact with each other. The pre-mission equipment draft is also a fun idea that gives everyone a shot at the best equipment.

All of that will set SotC apart from other dungeon crawls and I look forward to the additional content like the 8 additional map tiles and the inclusion of the Praetorian Stalkers from the PnP-only Brotherhood Expansion. This is an autobuy for me.

Damn, you're a fountain of knowledge on this one!

Thanks for the heads-up (last 2 sentences) on this - wasn't really understanding how much extra stuff is in the box.
