Opened 4 minutes early. Bombed on checkout.
Gateway errors. Gateway errors everywhere.
With a service name like CloudFlare, I'm guessing they tried to have some sort of cloud-based scaling in place. If demand crashed that setup, I'm guessing the load was ridiculously high.

The links everyone are sharing are the same links if you click through the website that is still functional, is just whether you get lucky or not. No black magic other than persistence. Also took me 1.5 hours, but eventually got in. Apparently already sold out in Europe, but NA, as of a few minutes ago, still had copies.

Oh and I was using my work computer as well as my phone over cell, and both Colorado and Dallas sites were having issues, so it's not totally localized. Eventually got in via Colorado.

I just lucked out and got through. It's pretty random. I had several tabs open trying to load my cart with different URLs found on Twitter and Reddit. I was refreshing them periodically throughout the afternoon when suddenly they all spontaneously loaded.
The actual checkout process was much easier using the onepage link: https://na.merch.riotgames.com/en/checkout/onepage/ .
But ultimately there's no magic bullet, it's just dumb luck if you manage to get through.
