I think I'll go on Tuesday to hopefully avoid the crowds but it is fun to sit with the hardcore fans on opening weekend so I'm undecided.
The early release marketing is wearing me down as well. I'll probably take the kids to $5.00 Tuesday at the local Imax.
There are some nice theatres I'd rather visit in the city but Seattle traffic is super bad for my emotional well-being. Hoopleheads everywhere. I'll have to settle for the local pseudo-IMAX.
I think this will be my first movie date with the new gf. It's risky cuz she's going to get a real taste of my dork-side. I KNOW I'm going to squeal with joy getting to see Vader as an actual villian again. Or when he meets Tarkin for the first time. "Stop trying to kiss me! Can't you see there are Imperial Class Star Destroyers on the screen !!"
I don't go to the theater anymore... no time. I had to choose some hobbies since we have kids and I don't have the time I used to have so I chose music as a number one and hanging out with buddies (sometimes including gaming) as a number two. Movies just don't make the cut unfortunately so I'll have to wait till it's out of the theater. Kind of sucks because I will know the whole story by then. Not much I can do about it. Sure, I could walk around on egg shells reminding people not to tell me or avoiding every meme on the net or... but it's simply too much work. If a film is good it will still be good even if it's 'spoiled'. So I'll probably read the script once it's out so I at least get some semblance of how it goes without just random spoilers showing up in my face and then see it at home when I get a chance. That's what I did with Force Awakens and it worked out ok.
