Doesn't approach the character and creativity and craft of Force Awakens. Compare the character of Jyn to Rey or Cassian to Finn/Poe, etc., and it's not even close. The robot is great and I thought the main bad guy (Ben Mendelsohn) was quite good in his role, but otherwise the characters were pretty serviceable at best, but nothing more.

There are some great action/battle moments and visuals, especially with AT-ATs and star destroyers. But also a lot of what we've seen before. Again, for the most part I thought Force Awakens had a better sense of stylistic visual impact and creative combat.

Also, there was a choice made in this film about how to depict something that was TERRIBLE. Just terrible. Ugh. I shook my head each time it came up, and especially the last time, which was just such a dumb dumb choice and totally unnecessary in that moment. You'll know what I mean.

The best Star Wars film?? Hell, no. IV, V and VII are all much better. A decent and entertaining Star Wars film? Absolutely.

Changing my previous prediction from 2019 to 2018...

(Grudunza, nice, spoiler-free post. thanks!)

I wish there was a porn parody called Rouge One, so I could more easily mock all the rogue typos that will be appearing on the internet in the coming weeks.

What does Rogue One mean to Rogue Squadron? Why not call this film something else and not overshadow what had been an important unit in SW lore for decades?

So, this movie is about Rogue One the leader of Rogue Squadron? The cast of characters don't look like pilots...

I like to think it went something like this;

"The First of the Ninth was a old calvary division that traded in their horses for helicopters and went tear-assing around 'Nam looking for the shit."
