Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)
Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.
Street Masters (beat-em-up minis game) Kickstarter
A few observations though:
* The Boris card example notes a blue figure color indicator. Does Boris not have his own figure? Is the game a few unique hero sculpts, but all the villains use generic figs, but noted by base color?
* This title looks to have quite a bit of plastic. Hopefully, the box will have an easy way to sort all these out. Seems like it may be a lot of grey to sift through during set-up.
* Also, when is this game expected to ship? Maybe I missed it...
Here's some personal opinions. This game looks fantastic and I'm all in, but just a few small items bugging me:
* The Golden Dragons enemy group....Any chance they be renamed? 'Golden' tends to mean 'good guys' in these sort of settings. Unless this is a good, npc/pc group, maybe they could be the Jade Dragons or something. I dunno this is throwing me off. Perhaps, they have fluff I'm not seeing that explains this?
* Not-E. Honda...also throwing me off big time. E. Honda and Chun-li are like the Ricky Steamboats of the Street Fighter world...the most pure babyfaces in the setting. I don't think there's a piece of media out there that has either of these two in any sort of crooked role. If not-E. Honda is going to be part of The Kingdom he's going to need to look a bit more dastardly then just having evil Bert eyebrows. Even with those eyebrows...he still looks like a hero:
* I didn't mean to lead to a full thread page on how the ladies are portrayed. This game seems to be doing a decent job. The not-Chun-li character in the mini skirt is what prompted my take though. Chun-li's the first lady in fighting games and she has a fantastic, traditional costume. I don't think having more female characters donned accordingly is going to impact sales....but that's talking out of my selfish ass....
Don't get it twisted...I'm cool with the game as is, but just some personal thoughts and nit picks. Again, as someone who was about to cancel his kickstarter account and thought they were done buying board games...this is exactly the title I want to be playing with my kids...damn good job here!

Mr. White wrote: Has a price w/ exclusive expansion been decided? I need to figure what needs to be sold off...
The bundle (Core + Mr. Apple + Oni Expansion + SECRET KS EXCLUSIVE ANNOUNCED AT LAUNCH) will be $109.
The to be announced exclusive is pretty nuts...

Mr. White wrote: Is this some earlybird exclusive or will it be available to all backers?
To my understanding, there will be no early bird stuff on this one. There are exclusives, but not limited.

Each enemy faction consists of at least 1 boss figure (unique), 1 chump-type Minion (5 minis of 1 unique sculpt), 1 tougher-type Minion (5 minis of 1 unique sculpt), and 1 even tougher-type Minion (3 minis of 1 unique sculpt). So within each of those types, the colored rings are to differentiate which figure belongs to which card. This just makes tracking damage/defense tokens much easier. So you don't have to pile those tokens on the board next to the figure. And it tracks enemy activation better (which also lends itself to better player scaling).
Fortunately, I am pushing for the box to have a nice big card will with dividers for all the decks. The minions remain with their factions, so if you bag each faction up, you just have to snag their deck and the associated bag of minis. Each boss always has the same set of minis he uses. Another design choice I was firm onMr. White wrote: * This title looks to have quite a bit of plastic. Hopefully, the box will have an easy way to sort all these out. If we fund well enough, we could probably get it in backers hands before the end of the year. Overfunding helps push along production faster.Mr. White wrote: * Also, when is this game expected to ship? Maybe I missed it...
The publisher controls the theme/IP on this one, but from what I've gathered, the Golden Dragons is a collective of the various gangs (Yakuza, Triads, and various sub-factions within the criminal organization). They run the underground casinos and such. I think the name is to invoke the "Honor Among Thieves" spirit and unity that the Kingdom is trying to promote among the warring gangs.Mr. White wrote: * The Golden Dragons enemy group....Any chance they be renamed? Well the Kingdom thinks they are the heroes, so that's kind of accurateMr. White wrote: * Not-E. Honda...also throwing me off big time. E. It's safe to say that the core set fighters, and the well-endowed sorceress in the Oni box, are about as skimpy as it gets. From what I've seen of all the stretch goal art, it goes into much safer territory. I personally wouldn't blush playing this game with my young daughter if she was playing as Megan (dressed in typical martial arts attire), Ying Hua (the cop skirt is a little high, but nothing to write home about), or Natalia (whose military fatigues aren't more revealing than you might see in a gym). But it's all personal preference, I know. I will say, I had no personal control over this art (this is all the publisher/art director/art studio). But I just haven't seen anything that seems excessive to me.Mr. White wrote: * I didn't mean to lead to a full thread page on how the ladies are portrayed. This game seems to be doing a decent job. Thanks, glad you're excited, and can't wait for this thing to launch!Mr. White wrote: Don't get it twisted...I'm cool with the game as is, but just some personal thoughts and nit picks. I'm so stoked/nervous.
Here is the Kickstarter preview page to whet anyone's appetite. It's about 90% there, still waiting for pictures of painted miniatures and the updated rules.

Is the SECRET KS EXCLUSIVE ANNOUNCED AT LAUNCH part of this preview or will it only be revealed....at launch?
Also, from the prototype art it looks like the Oni expansion box is the same size as the base game box. Is that right? Will other expansions also be in the same sized boxes? From other posts, it sounds like an eye has (thankfully) been given to a compact package...so, how many expansions/extra content do you think I'll be able to stuff into a base box?

There is an exclusive that will be revealed at launch. It's super cool.
The box sizes shouldn't be taken literally. I'm almost positive the core set will be a "deep dish" box and the expansions will be smaller. I'm pushing for a decent insert in the core box to help hold all the contents + some, if not all expansions. Depends on how funding goes!

hotseatgames wrote: It looks really good. I'll be pledging. Can you shed some light on the different stage boards? How do they really differ?
The stages are probably what I'm MOST excited about with this design. I spent a ton of time trying to make sure there was an elegant system in place that A.) made all the stages function similarly enough that there wouldn't be a ton of extra rules for each one while also B.) providing a ton of design space to push the theme and mechanics in each one.
So in one stage you might be stopping the boss from gathering a bunch of weapon caches, while in another you might be trying to escort innocent people out of a casino while trying to shut down an illegal gambling ring. Or stopping a drug deal. Or saving a bunch of corporate hostages in a Die Hard like scenario.
And each stage has it's own deck and own objective mechanics. I'm super proud of this aspect of the game. It provides for a ton of variety.
