The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31 is going to be available soon, I think... Do any of the reviewers around these parts have a line on a copy, so that I can read your esteemed opinion before dropping any cash on it?

I second the review request. I'm skeptical of Outpost, but I'm predisposed to want it. I must embrace patience, and prudence.

I just got an update about the exclusive version, available on the Mondo website sometime in mid-november, depending on how many copies remain after their 11/4-5 convention launch.
Mondo Exclusive Version
- Limited to 1,982 numbered copies
- Box top artwork by Jock housed in a translucent printed sleeve
- Additional figures: "Palmer-Thing" & "Dead Norwegian" with expanded gameplay
- Outpost 31 collectible enamel pin
- Limited edition letterpress print by Jock
- $120
IDK. I've become an enamel pin fanboy, and I would like a print from Jock. The two extra figures and extended gameplay may be nice. The box top artwork and clever edition number don't do much for me. I'm afraid this PREMIUM price is too rich for my blood. If I go forward with a purchase, I'll stick with the retail copy for now.

Yeah, I have no interest in non-game extras, so I'd also stick to regular edition.

I'd love to review it but don't have a copy coming my way. I'm 50/50 on my expectations of it being solid.

Darkmoon is fun and works at what it does. I'm a big Thing fan and picked up a great shirt on the boardwalk this summer.

I'm a big fan of The Thing (more Hawkes than Carpenter). I'm hopeful the game lives up to my moderate expectations. That said, what I really want is a game based on The Thing where you can play characters other than those pre-defined by movies.

When I was in high school, I ran a Killer variant that was based on The Thing. The game lasted three days, and the Thing won. A couple of players got in minor trouble for disruptive behavior in classes.
