Your favor or best dice rolling moments ever
#4 Yesterday, I'm playing The US Civil War as the South in 1863. As Bobby Lee, I'm playing aggressive and attacking the North at ever chance I get but I leave Richmond open to attack by Meade. Meade attacks Richmond defended by only 4 troops and +6 fortification . With Longstreet in Richmond with a +6 fort I inflict 2 hits. Meade needs to roll at 5+ on 2 dice to take Richmond. It's my lucky day and Walt rolls a 3 with 2 dice and fails to take Richmond.
#3 Yesterday we're playing an older game Honor of the Samaria. It's close to the end of the game. Bobbytweeks and Matt James are close to winning. Matt attacks Bobbytweeks, the current Shogun. Matts rolling 6 dice and rolls a solid 24 pips. Bobby "I've sold my soul to Satan" Tweeks needs to beat 24 pips but is only rolling 5 dice so he needs to average 5 pips per dice to beat Matt. Bobbytweeks calls on all the power of Lucifer and rolled a freakish 26 on 5 dice. The max on 5 dice is 30 the average is 17.5. Note: Earlier in the game and earlier in the day Bobbytweeks rolled some crazy fraking shit against Matt James. So after Bobbytweeks rolls his 26 and Matt James does a table flip Luckily, it was 1:00 AM and we were well lucubrated with Rye Whiskey so we laughed are asses off.
#2. I'm playing Hannibal against James as Carthage. It's the best game I've ever played. I control the Islands, Spain and all of Italy except for Rome. It's the last turn of the game and I draw 0 #3 point cards and Hanno is not in Carthage. James, throws a Hail Mary pass and sends Marcellus to siege Carthage and I can't react and James throws 3 consecutive 6 to burn Carthage to ground to win the game.
#1. I'm ready to dunk the ring in War of Rings. Frodo only has like 4 corruption but has to make 1 last chit pull and the mother fraking spider is pulled. "Ok, no problem the only way I lose this game is if he rolls 6" But it's Malloc rolling. Note: The Bucheri brothers Malloc and Bobbytweeks have sold their souls and their families and their friends and co-workers souls to roll freakishly evil in all games. Malloc with all the confidence in the world picks up the dice and rolls it and it comes up a 6. Evil win, Frodo is corrupted.

*I have seen Colossi in game exactly twice. They are hard to get, the game usually ends before they could come out. Even then, they weren't the worst thing on the field of play, as Titans themselves get bigger and bigger as the game advances.

That's the Shōkaku, one of the aircraft carriers that hit Pearl harbor 18 months earlier. Escorted (of course) with a cap, it's 32,000 tons of something you shouldn't fire at when you're down to three marginally dependable torpedoes and have to keep moving in order to stay afloat. But . . . it's the frikkin' Shōkaku, and if I can quote the U.S. Submariner's unwritten motto, "don't run from prey," I couldn't pass it up. It bombed Pearl Harbor. I had to take the shot, even though it would almost assuredly fail and I would almost assuredly be sunk trying. Three tubes loaded, three torpedoes sent. Two points of damage is considered good for a torpedo in this game, and I needed six to sink her. I needed to run the table.
Plink! The first was a dud, hit the side of the carrier doing nothing except providing a clear location for the entire Japanese fleet to find me.
Boom! The second worked, hitting Shōkaku for 2 points of damage.
BLAMMO! The third not only worked, but my roll moved me to the critical table where it multiplied its damage to exactly four points. Shōkaku was done! But frankly so was I so there wasn't a whole lot of celebrating to be had.
"Deep deep deep boys! The whole goddamned CAP is coming for us!" Went to a panic deep dive, as the only thing available to me was that I didn't have any hull damage. It was my one ace in the hole. The escort managed to detect me the first two times (needed to roll just a 4 on 2d6) and pounded the shit out of me as we tried to ease out of the kill zone without making enough noise to be detected. They were doing 3 and 4 damages per turn. As luck would have it I rolled second damages on a lot of the stuff that had already been damaged, so we kept floating, kept moving. Hull damage started to creep, but on the third round of detection the IJN rolled a 3, which meant they lost me. We hung on the bottom until they passed, and were able to limp home with about zero equipment to spare. 11 damage that tour, which is a big-ass number in this game. But we still floated.
We had no radio, so we pulled into port with no one knowing what had happened.
"Welcome back Captain."
"We sank the goddamned Shōkaku. Somebody owes me a beer."
As luck would have it my wife had asked for 1940s music from Alexa that night, which was part of the reason I decided to pull out the game. So I'm in the kitchen with Benny Goodman playing, saying things like "you've got to be kidding me" and "oh God no!" and "come on baby, shit rolls, SHIT ROLLS!" My wife asked me if I was ok from the living room just after I slipped out from under them and I shouted back "I AM NOW!"

I once took this big lunk on the left (and a bunch of other Humans) to a Blood Bowl tournament once, and for most of the tournament, he was pulling his weight. In fact, he even managed to win me the game against some High Elves in the second match with a "surprise, I'm an Ogre, remember?" blitz. But I digress...
First turn of the fifth game (against some Skaven), we're receiving, and he's right up on the Line of Scrimmage where he belongs, being a big ol' road block, facing off against his murine equivalent. I get a couple of safe blocks off, push a few rats around, but due to poor dice on the armour rolls, no real damage has been done. Nonetheless, the ball has been picked up and secured, so we're as safe as we can be at the top of the half. Still, the lack of injuries is annoying me, so I decide to promote him from Road Block to Active Threat, and take a swipe at the Rat Ogre. Boom - double skulls (basically snake eyes), which means the pesky Rat is safe, and he goes down and might get hurt. I could burn a team re-roll to maybe try the block again, but I think "meh, it's early and he's a tank, he'll pick himself back up soon enough". Crack - armour break (10+ on 2D6), and casualty (again, 10+ on 2D6), which resolves into a Death (6 on a D6). My opponent winced, but I just laughed. I then proceeded to convincingly lose the game 4-1. Wouldn't have it any other way, though - this is Blood Bowl!

Its final landing space was occupied by the Outlaw, who was being played by my other friend who hosts. He was already wounded and the dynamite did enough damage to wipe out his remaining XP and knock him out. He rolled 2d6 on the Injury chart to see what his permanent injury was after recovering and, oops, he rolled a two which is instant death. Our group is pretty liberal about using Grit (tokens that let you reroll dice, basically) to redo rolls that probably shouldn't be allowed, but he'd used all of his during the fight before he was down so not even that was an option.
I tried to act chagrined but I didn't do a very good job of it; it was just too funny and I still catch shit for it at least once per session.
Not quite as memorable but more unlikely was when I was playing the Dark Legion for the second mission of Siege of the Citadel against my two nephews. The second mission is notoriously ill-balanced where the Doomtroopers have to flee an Ezoghoul - the strongest monster in the game - and it's not uncommon for one or more DT's to get downed before the end of the mission. The DT's are no match for the Ezoghoul since they don't have much for weapons or equipment at this point, so your best strategy is to run and hope you don't get slowed down too much by any of the DL forces.
The way the game works is that if your number of hits exceeds the DL enemy's armor value they're eliminated. SotC uses splat dice of three colors where you have 1/3 chance to get a hit on the white dice, 1/2 on the red, and 2/3 on the black. One of my nephews was playing as the Bauhaus DT team and decided to attack the Ezoghoul (armor 3) with four white dice (3 from his Plasma Carbine +1 from Bauhaus' faction ability), and of course he nonchalantly rolled four hits while not realizing that he made a 1/81 shot.

Short post - I love dice games, dice hate me. I'll stop there before I get depressed.
