Britannia might be a good fit... Who participates in these games with him, though? Gotta consider the playgroup too. :)

Memoir'44. Its at least on par with Risk and Stratego, but different from both. Plus WWII is a more accessible war theme for most people.

I think she can still find Streets of Stalingrad 3rd Ed. around online. Tell her to get that. You can thank me later.

Mal, for the love of god man, don't post that. I'm this close to buying it already...

I actually think that HILL 218 game Ken posted on the front page would be a pretty great game to give this guy...it's easy, addictive, and fits the historical bill fairly well.

Too bad Battle Cry isn't published any more. I think that would have been a perfect fit for both simple game play and historical setting.

I'd have to agree with Battle Cry. I get my older two kids to play the game (9 and a week shy of 7), and they love it. Sure, it's not historically accurate, but it's a lot of fun. It's something that a newbie to wargames would like.

I agree with the C&C Ancients and Axis and Allies suggestions. Tell her to get C&C:A if he'd rather have 2 player game, A&A if he plays with more people.
