I'm thinking of ordering some stuff from GMT (on their 50% off Twitter sale, so right now...)
I looked on BGG and there's one review.
Somebody here must have tried it, right? Anything good about it? Anything bad about it?

I second the Amateurs to Arms instead motion.
Mr. Madison's war is....ok. It's trying way to hard to play fast. As a result, the cardplay is quick but not terribly exciting. You can't hold cards year to year. It's got the classic CDG issue of more cards played for ops than events. And if they are played for events, then they are just usually VPs and nothing else.
I've played worse CDGs but I regret buying Mr. Madison's War and I should have stuck to AtA which is one of favorite wargaming purchases in the last few years.

It's very awkward, but I actually enjoyed it for that. That entire war was ridiculous and it seemed to fit. Not only is the card play awkward, but the overall troop movements and the way things coagulate. You are basically just running around being dicks to each other without any real overarching goal.
It lived through a few plays for me. Not sure it really needed to live much longer than that. I've since parted with it, but would play it again.
