We could do a three-way, since I haven't played WIF in ages, and don't have much experience with FE anyway. The two noobs could share Allied responsibility...

hmm, this does get the war game juices salivating. I own 3 matrix games though that i never play (WiTP AE, Korsun Pocket, and Conquest of the Aegean). So i don't know if i could justify this.

I would be interested however in a smaller online war game. I don't like vassal though, the game has to enforce the rules.

I hope they do add it, though. I would put in an order for the full thing — game, books, maps — the minute I hear that AI has been announced.

I would be pretty surprised if any AI was even half competent. There is a reason AI only exists in simple games with simple strategies with a low component count or is relatively dumb or has to cheat.

AI in chess (before anyone mentions it) is good because there is no randomness and only one win condition with all information totally open. This will not be the case with wargames which would require a far more sophisticated AI that can prioritise, strategise and bluff. Not likely IMHO.

Still slogging thru 400hrs of intro tutorial videos. Completed one of the interactive tutorials and read all the non interactive ones.

I figured I can work it out as I go And mistakes will be part of the fun.

But let me know when (if) you feel comfortable tackling Barbarossa.

My set just arrived. Wow, Matrix did a nice job of this. Hope there ain't much by way of errata [heh, yea, I know. It's WIF...] to pencil into these hardbound books. But, it's a good looking set for sure.
