Warfighter by DVG is the most intriguing game I've encountered in quite a while. I played an abbreviated game at Trashfest and it really grabbed me.
It's a cooperative game where each player is one soldier in a Special Forces squad.
It has hints of Up Front where each scenario gives your team a certain amount of resource points to spend loading out your soldier. There are weapons, skills, and equipment that can be bought. The soldiers have a weight limit so they can't take everything. But the amount of choices and combos are vast.
Interestingly it has a good deal of a Revolver in it as well as it is a kind of a Dudes on a Location thing going as you advance to your mission objective.
It also has it's own thing going with your hand of cards and the cost to play them being paid by discarding. A powerful Ction may require you to discard the rest of your hand and thereby exhausting you.
The big drawback was downtime. We played with six which was clearly too much. I think it would work well solo or with two or three.
I have a review copy inbound and it looks very interesting. I'm a big fan of Hornet Leader and Thunderbolt Apache Leader and it looks like it shares the emphasis on setup and prepping your team for what you may encounter.
The location thing did remind me of The Convoy (which was influenced by Revolver) and I'm glad it's contemporary warfare and not World War 2.
