Any decent turn-based wargames for the I-devices?

I'd love to play Washington's War or Twilight Struggle on the Ipad.

I've enjoyed Uniwar and Neuroshima Hex, and need to figure out Battle for Wesnoth.

Probably lighter than you're looking for, but Warring States is pretty good for what it is: appshopper.com/games/warring-states-original

There's also Medieval Battlefields: appshopper.com/mac/games/medieval-battlefields Sort of like Uniwar.

Re:Any decent turn-based wargames for the I-devices?

Twilight Struggle and Labyrinth are both coming to the iPad but they're not available yet. From GMT's customer update email of a couple of days ago:

iPad and Computer Products

Just a quick update here, and an appeal for patience. Our call for iPad developers last time resulted in over 100 contacts from various companies and individual developers. To date, due to just a ton of work and only one of me, I have corresponded with around a dozen of those contacts. And several of those are already working out nicely, with a few new games already slated for iPad development and one new computer project, and a few other interesting possibilities.

To the rest of you who have written, please don't give up on us. I will get back to you as quickly as possible and hopefully we can agree on a game for iPad development that will work for both you and GMT. Thanks for all your interest in working with us!

Figure out Battle for Wesnoth.

Rogue Planet is similar to Uniwar. The Assault Commander games also look similar, but I haven't tried them. Maybe Great Little War Game, too.

Tactical Soldier is an X-Com/Jagged Alliance-style squad-level game.

You might like to check out the titles here or here, too. Of those, besides the ones mentioned above, I have Rimelands. It's like a turn-based Diablo, and pretty good, but it's expensive (for the app store).

Looks like there's some good stuff (including "Washington's War") coming in the (hopefully) not too distant future from Project Simonsen:

It sounds like there will be a lot of card-driven games soon. Very exciting!

Viking lords is a battlelore clone, copy, or whatever. The first couple of scenarios are basically command and colors:medieval, but farther in I'm starting to hit dwarves and goblins. Highborn is turn based, iirc, but I'm not far into it. And there is small world of course.

Exciting, without a doubt. Soon? ... not so much.

The Simonsen folks are much in the pre-production stages right now. From what I understand, not a line of code has yet been written. It will be a while before even the first title drops; my guess is it won't be happening in this calendar year.

Now, with that said, there's a lot of positives, too. This is a smart group of guys, they've got their heads screwed on straight, and they don't seem interested in throwing out a lot of promises they can't keep. They know that getting an iOS game to market involves a series of steps, not just wishful thinking. I wish them nothing but the best, but I think it's best to not expect too much from them in the short-term.

I've only heard about STRONGHOLDS and WARGAME.

You could try those?

Re:Any decent turn-based wargames for the I-devices?

What's ironic is that UniWar might still be the leader of the TBS pack for iOS, and it was one of the earlier titles.

It's also got an active developer and a robust players' community. My only real wish-list item is getting it into a universal build for the iPad.
