Is there such thing as a purely economic based Ameritrash game?

I don't know of any of such games yet but I do have an idea.
I always been thinking how awesome it would be if they translated an economy based computer game to boardgame. It's called ruthless.com. It was basicly about software companies battling out for products and market share. Market share was represented by a grid and the bigger ur market share the more income you earn. But the nasty ameritrash side of it, was hacking, bombing and hostile take overs.

It would translate extremely well to a boardgame since it hosted, variable player powers, cool scenarios and turn based play.

I forgot a classic, Merchant of Venus. There is a few reasons I posted this question to this forum. One of the reasons for this post was to set the frame work for which games would be included at Trashfest. People at Trashfest will gain trash points for playing or winning Ameritrash games. But Ubarose, Malloc, Iguanaditty and I will have to make the call on which games should be included and which games shouldn’t be included. There are some games that the decision will be easy, Caylus – Not Ameritrash and Risk – Ameritrash. So I’d like to do an informal poll on which games should or should be included for Trashpoints:

Economic Trashfest Games:
Railroad Tycoons - Yes
Age of Steam No - It's a Wallacepoluza game
Power Grid No – It’s a Euroquest game
Acquire Yes – Classic AH game
Cash n’ Guns - Yes
Bootleggers - Yes
Gangsters - Yes
Pirate Cove - Yes
I’m the Boss - Yes
Vegas Showdown - No, Too many Euro elements
Dealers Choice - Yes
Merchant of Venus - Yes

Hi,

In some ways I'm surprised there aren't more AT style games in this vein. After all, trading can be brutally cutthroat at times. I'd have thought there was plenty there for designers to work with.

One fairly old game trading that I enjoy - and which I think I could describe as AT - is The Business Game/Mine a Million. It has some highly entertaining mechanisms for royally screwing up other players and is exciting and fun to play. Like a lot of old games it's often overlong and has difficulty stacking up against more modern titles but I still find it worth the occasional play.

Cheers,
Matt

Someone implied that being an art dealer is all nice and nice...I suppose if you're selling new art but selling old art can be pretty brutal. You can have forgeries, you can have art that was stolen from its rightful owners, etc.

Heck, art competition is pretty brutal. Artists are pretty cutthroat.

Well, Adel Verplichtet has art theft included. Does that make it AT?

I enjoy it(Which may not mean much. ;)). It's an "economical" game, but it has trashy elements with player elimination, evil confrontation elements, and Taco Bell. Mix in a bit of Monopoly , little Acquire. Good game.

Seconded. Fast Food Franchise is certainly fun. Hey, it even comes with appropriate hats for the players, what more could you ask?
