So, my wife LOVES TTR. She's been going on about how much she wanted the analog version. So, I sold a couple items I had lying around and got it for her, and 1910 of course. My question is; Amazon has the Alvin and Dexter expansion for $14 and I've got the prime free for a month so I get free 2-day shipping. Has anyone played with it? Is it worth it? We don't need new maps yet, I just thought this little thing could be fun.

We've played with it a couple of times and enjoyed it quite a bit. Adds a dash o 'Trash to the game.

The Swiss map really is worlds more interesting for 2-3 player games, especially 2 player, with the big pain in the ass that you can't pronounce anything and it takes you time to actually look at where a certain connection is unlike the US where you just kinda know.

Matt is right on target about the Swiss map, and it JUST got reprinted, so there's no excuse to not get it. I think that might be my favorite version of the game.

Have you played the Asian map? It has a pretty cool partnership variant. It's one of those things that actually plays to the strengths of TTR. I liked it a lot.

Well it will more often be my wife and I just playing at home, so I'm not sure if Asia is right for us. How does it play with 2?

That I don't know. If it'll usually just be the two of you, then there's really no question at all. Get Switzerland.

Asia's no good with two. The Asia box comes with two maps. The Team game (up to three teams of two) and a version more like the standard game but has some rough terrain to deal with.

The 1910 Big Cities variant is designed for two-players on the US map as the tickets are only for the 'big cities' thus funneling the two players towards the same cities causing competition. Since you're already getting 1910, I'd just play Big Cities with the base for a while. When tired of it go to Switzerland and India (they come together).

I passed on Alvin and Dexter.

Switzerland happens to come with India as well, which is also good for 2 players.

My wife and I also like Ticket To Ride so here's another opinion:

The Switzerland map sucked.

You could save some serious coin by just doing pass-n-play with the iPad/iPhone. Or even do networked games, if you're going to be in different rooms for a while (and own at least two devices, of course)

I'm being serious. This is how the wife and I play TtR, and we've gotten every map, AI foes, achievements and leaderboards for a total investment of like $9, spread across three apps. And not a single second wasted on set-up or tear-down.

Oh believe me, I know. That's what I told her, but she NEVER wants a game. 99% of our collection are all games I wanted and got her to enjoy. This was the one she had to have so we can play with family and other friends when the opportunity arises. That being said, we both have ttr and ttr europe on our phone with 1910 also. We often do play in bed at night, lol.
