And that doesn't mean Morels shouldn't be made. My entire point is that more games like Escape! should be made. It represents tremendous opportunity. You don't have to subtract to add.

But when game like Morels are being made when so many of the fun themes I covered are not being made in either quality and quantity.... then yes, I feel like there is something wrong and imbalanced in the industry.

Obviously, I am a fairly solitary voice in the online community in this regard, so I don't think anyone has to worry about a revolution here anytime soon. (LOL)

Why are there no 'Thank-You's' on this?

Because it's not actually about blow-jobs.

There are only so many games of Balderdash, Ticket to Ride, Cloud 9 to be had before people want to try something else. It is very easy to find games for the Tuesday night group. Much, much harder to find new games for our Thursday night group, however.

There's a lot of games that are good for people who are into Monopoly/Balderdash/Cluedo level games, provided they are willing to learn.

Great point, Pete. The game has to brought forth in a manner that will entice people to want to learn more.

RE: Mass Market Success

Universal Theme (mainstream-- will both guys and gals like it?)
Great Art
Not Overwhelming in Complication (Perception)
Shows High Interaction
Sense of Fun
"Easy to Learn, Complicated to Master" Game Mechanics
Chance for everybody to win
No excessive downtime

Actually, I can name a ton of games that fit this bill. Scotland Yard, Survive!, Lifeboats, Mystery of the Abbey, Pirate's Cove, Mystery Express, Gold Rush, I'm the Boss, Escape!, A Dog's Life, RoboRally, Pandemic, Forbidden Island, Clue: The Great Museum Caper, Kill Dr. Lucky, Lost Cities, Sherwood Forest... and so on.

It's just that there is not too much of anything "new" to look forward to each year. Escape and Black Gold are the only games to have caught my eye recently. So yes, there is maybe enough out there to build a pretty darn good selection of "existing" games for a "mainstream" collection.

But like you and everyone else, its just nice to get excited about a few new games each year too. ; )

Well, when you're married, the implication of one is half the battle.

Ryan, have you tried King of Tokyo? It's probably the best "light" game I've played since Ticket to Ride.
