That's why it's Euro-dome, hoss.

Even though I am getting it in a trade, I haven't played Mare Nostrum yet. I have played Wallenstein though, and I had a blast, so my vote for now will have to be Shogun/Wallenstein.

No, because you get to kill people to build your sets. With dice.

Vomit: Shogun too much rice.

I played Shogun once and was like, please let my phone ring so I can pretend it's an emergency and get the hell out of here.

Mare Nostrum has wooden boats which means I was able to convince Francie Pants that it was Euro, so she is willing to play it with me. Although she won't learn the expansion on account of it has "stupid" monsters.

Mare Nostrum is a crowd favorite down in ATL. I like the varied powers and well integrated theme.

Monsters have feelings, too.

Re:Eurodome - Shogun VS Mare Nostrum

I haven't played Shogun, but based on Wallenstein, I'm going to vote Mare Nostrum.

I found that Wallenstein was kind of jumbled. It had a number of good things going on, but it didn't bring them together cohesively and ended up feeling like a mess of a game.

Mare Nostrum was a good time the one time I've played.

Edit: actually, I have played Shogun... and completely forgot about it...

Ditto.

My standard diss of the Wallenstein system: "On your mark... get set... Build a Church!" Too much focus on predicatable solitaire busy work and not enough collusion.

Mare Nostrum is an awesome, innovative system (despite the cumbersome trading), and I haven't even gotten my hands on the juicy expansion. Most importantly, it's absolutely loaded with table talk. Sadly, it will never be played in my group, as it requires multiple plays to balance out and my group is overly cult-of-the-new for a game like this.

Easy vote: Mare Nostrum.

I haven't played either, but based on everything that I've read I would take a chance to play Mare Nostrum first.

Terrible at Shogunstein

I'm going to vote based on one factor alone: I suck at Shogunstein. Therefore, it must suck, because I am awesome. (As we all know = Suck × Awesome = Suck. It's a parity rule.)

Vote: Mare Nostrum
