It's a fairly good game, one of Wallace's better, but I don't think it's so special as to merrit a Valley Reprint. Can't see them making much money on it.

When they originally announced reprinting it so very long ago, it was one of the most in-demand of the Wallace titles and demanding $75-$125. At this point, I think they're just trying to work through their old promises. That was, however, before Treefrog was everywhere and he was putting out new games basically monthly. I was kind of hoping they would have skipped this one and gone for Big City first...

I've got my eye on this one - I'm always interested in quick playing games with a solid historical theme. Be interested in any further information.

Agreed. He has become a lot more prolific. And while I haven't played this game, his rules tend to be pretty rough. Brass is a great game, but that rulebook leaves a lot to be desired. Based on Valley's reprint of Republic of Rome, they seem to merely reprint and focus on graphics as opposed to truly rework the game to make it easier to learn. So if the rules to this follow other Wallace games, I'll wait. And as others have said, it looks rather abstract.

Re:Valley Games reprinting Liberte

Liberte is one of my least favorite Wallace games. I am, however, unnaturally biased against card-driven area majority games. And this one is pretty dry, to boot.

Anyway, be aware that loads of people have complained about a "stagnant draw" problem where the card draw area can fill up with 1's. There are different proposed variants to fix this problem:

www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/69328/dagger-variant

www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/164796/stagnant-draw-fix-by-bobby-tweaks

www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/86354/yet-another-card-fix-variant

The sheer volume of proposed fixes seems to support the contention that Liberte is only fractionally baked. I hope that Valley doesn't re-release the game without at least a tiny bit of development...

Man, you are all out of your friggin minds... This is bar none the worst Euro I've ever played. Get a majority of colors on a other-colored board (ranging from purple to mauve), using colored cards, and pretend it's a Revolution. I lost all faith in Wallace after playing this crap, although I'll admit Age of Steam, which I played later, isn't bad but still overrated. Liberté is as dry as matching geometric shapes by color and tickness in primary school.
