I played this for the second time in my life, the last being in 2009 and I had forgotten my enjoyment of this game. There is a tricky level of balance in trying to build factories, build cars, develop new cars and sell cars. It can be difficult to wrap your brain around this and the first turn or two can really be a learning experience. Since it was my second playing, I understood (sorta) what I should be doing and managed to squeak out a win.
There is actually a fair bit of complexity, and some really nifty things going on with the obsolescence track that keeps new models going forward. But it all comes down to how many cars you think you can sell. And that is based on a kind of mini Liar's Dice ish set of market chits.
Then you have to do an awful lot of math to work out budgeting.
A reasonable game, but it reminded me so very much of Lokomotive Werks. And yet Lokomotive Werks is both simpler, and more difficult to play. And thus I hated it, based on my axiom that if you do something that's been done, you REALLY have to do it better.
