Hasbro as a game manufacturer

Hasbro as a game manufacturer was created by moofrank
I found an interesting note that Rails of New England was printed and produced by Hasbro, largely from US-sourced components.
Anyone (Pete?) know what is up with this, and what other games they are producing?
As to Rails of New England--Walter told me that the inspiration was Silverton. It definitely shows, and looks like an improved Silverton with some of the tedium trimmed down. And while the rules are a little opaque, this does look like a great game. Which might end up being more AT than Euro.

OK, here's what I have to report:
"It is being manufactured here at the factory"
Meaning, it's being made, in whole, at the factory in in East Longmeadow, MA
I then asked, "Is Hasbro starting to print other games as a contract manufacturer?", to which I got the response:
"I don't know that one. As far as I know, RoNE is the only one. There may (or may not) be plans to do more, I just don't know anything about them."
Hope that helps.

As far as the game, I spent some quality time with the rules at lunch:
1. Definitely Silverton-inspired. But the entire market mechanism is trimmed to a simple 3-state overall market (Prosperity, Normal, Depression), which affects things differently.
2. Businesses (no longer mines) no longer give out and vanish.
3. There is a stronger focus on events and action cards.
4. There is an entire phased aspect to the card decks and events into three phases. This is to represent the drift of New England from an Ag-base to heavy manufacturing over time.

Didn't know New England was heavy into silver.... Sorry, metal guy joke.
(Actually, Rhode Island is the US "Costume Jewelry Capital")

Frank: #1 on your list there makes this a big draw for me. I picked up a copy of Silverton cheap a couple of years ago; I found I liked it...for the first 90-120 minutes or so...and then I kind of just wanted it to end. It wasn't a "claw my eyes out with a rusty spork to make it end" feeling; I just kind of got exhausted by it. On the plus side, it does actually play as a solitaire game (other than 1829 Mainline, I don't know if there are any other games in the genre that can say that). Does Rails of NE have a solo option? If not, will it at least work with 2?

There isn't a solo option. I bet it would work with 2---it shrinks the board to scale. I am thinking this is a 3 hour game, however.
